The album Bon Voyage's concept is the journey. After the release of JAPONESQUE, two years ago, which had a Japanese theme, Kumi wanted her next album to have an universal appeal. So she wanted to make an album which would be dealing with journeys but because of her pregnancy, Bon Boyage was delayed until 2014. Kumi says that despite being a random fact, Bon Voyage was released at the perfect time as this December she will celebrate her 15th anniversary since her musical debut.
She is happy that she's having the opportunity to meet her smiling fans on the "TOUR 2014~Bon Voyage~" which will end in Taiwan.
Many times she's been asked to add tour dates in Taiwan and it's because of that that she has chosen Taiwan as the Tour 's finale over Okinawa.
Talking about the collaborations on Bon Voyage, Kumi says that Sean Paul is a cool artists and his songs chart pretty well in the States and he's famous all around the world.
Furthermore, OVDS are an indie band and the fusion between Kumi's JPop and indie music gave birth to the song Crank Tha Bass. Many indie artists aren't so popular but Kumi wishes OVDS to have success as their music is very interesting.
Kumi loves shopping and eating good food everytime she's abroad working or on vacation.
However, most of the times, because her lack of spare time, she's forced to eat in fast food restaurants. During her trip in Taiwan she tasted local dishes as the Cangyingtou (beef and grilled vegs) and came back to Japan with some extra pounds!
When she's traveling, Kumi likes to make a schedule that allows her to have moments of relax here and there during the day like coffee breaks and massages.
Kumi doesn't like lonliness, that's why she always travels with good company (friends, family). She is very talkative and that's the reason why she likes to have people around her all the time. Kumi thinks to be a difficult traveling companion as she is always tired, wants to eat all the time and has lots of toilet-breaks!
While travelin Kumi listens to music on her PC and lately she likes reggae, r&b an hip-hop. She doesn't want to be considered a boring and repetitive artist, that's why she listens to lots of different music genres seeking inspiration and ideas to suggest to her producers.
All of her past trips gave her lots of ideas for her music and her concerts. For example, she had the idea for the opening of the "TOUR 2007 ~Black Cherry~" while she was in Maroc shooting her firs photobook: MAROC.
When she was in Taiwan, Kuchan did some shopping in Shilin and she also visited Nantou which is famous for its beautiful landscapes.
Next time she'd love to visit the town of Chiufen as suggested by her mother.
Kumi doesn't have any holiday scheduled as she's working on her 15th anniversary project.
Ultimately, Kumi gives us some advice on what to hear while on vacation!
Before leaving she listens to "A Traveler" by Speech, she says it's also good at the gym! When she's in Taiwan she listens to "Love Is Over" by Ouyang Feifei (her cover is featured on ETERNITY- love & songs-). While walking through the nigh bazaars she listens to "Suddenly I See" by KT Tunstall.
Thinking about Kyoto, her city of birth, she thinks of "Merry Chrismas Mr Lawrence" by Ryuchi Sakamoto, perfect while walking around with the snow falling from the sky.
While shopping on the 5th Avenue in New York, Kuchan listens to "Empire State Of Mind" by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.
Talking about France, she thinks of Pharrell's "Happy". At the seaside she listens to "No One" by Alicia Keys. Ultimately, up on the mountains she listens to Bruno Mars!
