Well the tour starts pretty soon. If the tour is going to contain songs from this album, there's an issue of momentum. If the album is dropped right at the beginning of the tour, you have an ideal setting.
I wouldn't want the tour to introduce the new songs, because the visual representations are going to trump the studio versions if the album is released after the tour begins.
The obvious solution is just to introduce a couple songs, let the tour commence, and drop the album mid-tour introducing all the other new songs and change the setlist.
Butt.... the album promotion really needs to start rolling, because it's a bit awkward that the album's namesake tour is already starting this next week and we don't even have a release date yet.
