I'm sad to hear of her separation. Tyson and her looked nice together.
Regardless of how much hate I get for this: I'm not surprised at all. I have no clue why Ayu married an American who wasn't migrating permanently to Japan. She spoke previously in an interview about how she has her life in Japan, and then her life with him in the US. (Something, something, she goes to spend time with him in the US - something, something - she gets away from who she is in Japan for awhile...) And it struck me as a bit odd to be so happy about having two lives, one to herself and one with her husband. But more so, it sounded like the same lifestyle that ultimately ended her relationship with Manny (him wanting to stay in the US, her wanting to stay in Japan).
To be completely honest, Ayu needs to meet someone
in Japan who wants to stay
in Japan. Doesn't matter if he's Asian, White, Black, or Saudi. She just needs to be with someone who plans to build a life in Japan.
For someone who has so earnestly lived a double life (one in Japan, one overseas), Ayu really needs to settle into one identity. She can't be the biggest selling female Japanese artist of all time AND be some nice unknown Japanese girl in America. She really needs to buckle down and affirm to herself that she is either AYUMI HAMASAKI or no longer AYUMI HAMASAKI, but she can't be both, or be one today and the other tomorrow.
Feel free to throw your shade at me. But I'm pretty confident that Ayu knew marrying an American would present the same obstacles she had with the last American she married. I think she genuinely thought this one would work out differently. But the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over expecting different results.
I hope she can work through this positively.
