I think halls like that have a more intimate feel than the arenas. And if you go to the ones outside the bigger cities, you have a better chance of seats closer to the stage if you buy via fan club.
The Gifu venue is down the road from my old apartment. It's 2 levels and holds a good amount of people, but all seats have a great view of the stage and theres room to jump around and such.
I think most of the halls listed have a similar layout.
