I wonder why we always try to compare them to western artists, lol. (There's a lot to unpack in that statement and I'm not trying to go there).
It's an interesting concept, and I think often they're similar to a few different artists in different ways. Janet is a DANCER - Namie is a very good dancer, but she's also not a BoA (who is more like Janet in that regard, IMO). Janet also has really thin vocals, and I think that's a department that Namie has really grown into her own over the years - she's not a Beyonce-level powerhouse, but she's a really solid singer better than Janet or J-Lo.
I could probably go down a lot of rabbit holes with that line of thinking, so I'll just stop it there.
