^I think they did it because ballads (traditional arrangement/safe option) generally sell well in Japan. But her sales are not that good anymore.
"Summer Fever" and "Can't Stop Me" could sound modern also as "I Just Wanna Fly" and "Talk To Me" . I think that they are going for summer feeling - more upbeat songs. "Waiting For You" is also good song (I am glad that they included that song on album).
