Not sure how many of you know who The Temptations are. One of the best selling groups of all time that formed in the 1960s and are still touring. Anyway, I saw an interview by the leader and only surviving original member that helped me understand and accept Ayu’s current release schedule (or lack of consistent new music). I don’t remember what exactly he said but it was along the lines of people will always know The Temptations by their hits such as My Girl and Cloud Nine so there really is no pressure to release tons of new music every year.
Perhaps Ayu feels the same way. People know her big hits and that’s what they expect to hear at her concerts. She has such a massive catalogue of songs anyway. New music is great but I wonder if she feels any pressure to release new songs as if searching for the next big hit. She still has plenty of music out there for people to enjoy. She doesn’t have to please the masses anymore as she has had her moment in the spotlight. Now it’s about what she wants and feels inspired by. Though I wouldn’t mind some new remixes...
