I disagree. The definition of what good interior design is in Japan is very different to the rest of the world. What they consider expensive and luxury is what an average European would consider kitsch and poor taste. It’s not just ayu’s house, it’s the expensive hotels and restaurants that also have this awful kind of interior design all over Japan. In a country where the majority of buildings look like they were made out of legos where, except, from places that have a more traditional feel to them, I’d say we shouldn’t associate someone’s general taste nor an ability to build an appealing image with their awful taste in furniture 😁
