Even the "you use words in an interesting way and should write lyrics" isn't much different from "so, I read your letters and I think you should write lyrics". Having a talent for writing doesn't mean she noticed by herself she had that talent.
Yeah I agree with this. That's why I'm cutting Kalen a bit of slack because even though she's lackluster right now it might have more to do with the script and the direction she's getting as well as what ayu was really like during this point in time.
