Director Outerspace Leo answered to some netizens who wrote that the song and MV had no relation whatsoever:

Director Outerspace Leo read some negative comments from netizens yesterday saying that the MV and the song had no relation whatsoever. He couldn't sleep, so he decided to write an explanation of the MV, but then he deleted everything. His customers, team, and people he cares about understands him, and that's the most important. They worked 6 months on 甜秘密 Sweet Guilty Pleasure MV, and he doesn't regret one second of it. These "negative voices" may be right, or may be wrong, but they and him just don't think alike, that's all.

Shame, it would have been very interesting to read how he came up with this script from the song.

"Many people think that dance music MVs can only use the same things, they just need nice clothes, finding great dancers and it's done." That's why he decided to make a "music movie", to try to break most people's previous impression on dance music MVs.
In Outerspace Leo's mind, Jolin is a very diverse artist, who can sing dance music or ballads. So he decided to integrate multiple materials in the MV. He said "You can't look at such a top artist from a very narrow perspective".
At first he thought that the script he wrote for the MV would be refused since the story is a bit weird and scary, and it was not fitting Jolin's past image. But Jolin and her agent agreed ! Outerspace Leo knows that many people won't be able to accept the MV, but like he said, he can't control everyone’s thoughts. He and his team don't have any regrets.
