you should look better into mp3 players
many are not even close to $100, not anymore

And, however small an md player, it will never reduce to a size of an mp3 player. And what i also don't understand is, why everbody needs massive amounts of space. It's just an machine replicating and transmitting sounds you use in public transport. max i used a day was 4 hours, i don't need 14 albums for that time, 2 is enough.
