I like to look at it as being more of a personal preference when it comes to deciding which format to listen to.
For me, I use both MD and MP3. I've used MD for a while now and have found it is still superior to MP3 player sound quality. I'm not much of an audiophile but I prefer having CD -> MD recorded sound rather than CD -> MP3 sound. Of course, with good quality comes with its drawbacks, i.e. it's size, cost and so forth. Hence, I use MP3 player as well. It's small, plays music... sufficiently, but most of all is a good memory stick for transferring work from home to school and vice versa. Mine is mostly used as a memory stick, but it plays MP3, which is a bonus

.
As for the cost... yes there are cheap MP3 players, but there are expensive MP3 players as well. Look at the superb iRiver series and the "not-so-good-imo" Apple iPods which everyone seems to be after these days o.o;; And if you compare how they perform with MD players, you'll see that MD's are better for sound quality, and MP3 is better for mass storage and size (mostly).

Hi-MD is on the rise and catching on with MP3 players being able to use the Hi-MD discs as mass storage. MD won't die out, only go stronger. It's how MP3 will try and compete is what I'm interested in.
I will always remain faithful to MD. It has never failed me in what it does and does it best.
Like I said, personal preference. An argument with no end~
(lol, I'm not bashing you Chrono, I just wanted to quote your posts in context of what I wanna write ^^)
