Couple reasons: (1) People don't want to be fully creative for the work anymore. In the past, people think they work hard and they would be successful. Unfortunately many big companies took that as an advantage. More people work, more they realize the reality. It is a part of capitalism.

Today people just want to work minimum.

(2) the design style has changed. People now prefer the style more realistic when in the past more filters on pictures or print media...
