true... i use a md/cd recorder in my hifi set which allows me to record digital from cd to md or backwards (even with the cd or md text which is very easy imo hehe)... but i hardly use it at home, i just use it for example when im in a plane with my portably player (which is already very old btw, shd buy a new one haha) or when im in my car where i dun even hv a cd player but only md =)
it has lots of advantages this way, i can re-use md's which i cannot with cd's (i cud with mp3, i know

) and i dun hv to worry about skipping cd's or anything, md wont skip... or at least not that fast

thats why i really will stick with md before going to try mp3 or anything (tho i do hv a portable mp3 player but i hardly use it lol, like sxesven also stated, 128mb or 256mb is just too little in order to use it properly)
