This isn’t a Japan thing either; damn near any venue in any country will ask you to show ID if you’re picking up tickets at will call, and this is exactly the same principle.

If you’re that opposed to needing to show an ID to pick up tickets you purchased for a show then might I suggest you stay home?
All you should need is some proof of purchase to demonstrate a proper transaction took place. <i>Personal</i> identification is no-one's business; we're not talking about buying restricted material here. That's all I'm saying. I view a password as a social security number, something you only show when asked by a government entity.

If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. Just not "obtuse".
