Haha I never actually related some of Ayu's Rainbow-ness with gayness. O.o;; and yeh I'm gay but that just never entered my head for a single second until someone mentioned in this thread. I always thought they were just 'girly' (ie. liked by Ayu's main audience, teenage girls) than they were gay.

and what some people doesn't seem to get is a gay icon doesn't necessarily have more gay fans than straight fans. Honestly, it's very hard to outnumber straight people when gay people are only 5% or less of the entire human population. Gay icons are just something that we want to 'claim' as our own...something we can say is ours in this mostly straight world. It's about the same as having gay parades but you'll never see straight people having 'straight parades' because there's no need for such a thing.

edit: woah, I just looked at SEASONS' cover again. I have to say it's more than a coincidence that Ayu had that tee with the rainbow and 'G' on it...it's definitely a message or something. Of course it doens't make her a gay icon...I don't think such a thing actually exists in Japan anyways.
