there is another alternative program - actually there are 4 - that i can list here:
EAC (exact audio copy) u can get it from
www.exactaudiocopy.de (u need the LAME dos encoder for it to encode in mp3 in a very good quality!)
WINDAC /w LAME/bladeenc (
www.windac.de)
Audiograbber (discontinued, but there are Wa**z out there)
Windows Media Player works fine for me! (Version 8 and 9)
CDEX rips fine too
Winamp plugins also can do that (forgot which but it dumps it as an mp3/wav, depends on what u want)

I recommend EAC the most (best quality) a little but hard to use at the beginning if you are new to it, but it gives u the best rips (well to me...) using the r3mix preset it provides /w LAME
