Some poor artist can easily sell more than 500.000 copies (in a small country)... Even in 2004 with peer to peer and piracy...
So i don't think that internet downloading is an excuse for low sales. The sales dropped about 25% (in France, since 2000) i don't know how many percent for japan. But even if the sales has dropped by 25%, 1.250.000 [1.000.000 + 25%] for a 130 millions ppl country it's poor for a greatest artist like ayu.
