Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams Release Date
On January 26th it'll be up against some stiff competition.
by David Karlin, 11/09/2005

Following up the hit title Onimusha 3, Capcom's Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams is near finished and almost ready to be released in Japan. On January 26th, 2006, the title will go on sale alongside other major games like Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus and Atlus's Devil Summoner Kuzunoha Raidou. Will it be able to top these other titles in sales? Well, that's still too early to call. In Japan, the Onimusha series has seen some decline in popularity with each game, so Capcom is hoping this revitalization with brand new characters, new game systems, and a controllable 3D camera will be what's needed to bring Onimusha back into the spotlight.

Alongside the announcement of a firm date for the game, producer Inafune mentioned that there will be a total of five playable characters in Dawn of Dreams and that the very popular J-pop singer Ayumi Hamasaki would be contributing two songs for the game. The song "Startin'" is an energetic song to go along with the opening cinema, while "Rainy Day" a ballad to be used for the end credits.

Capcom also made it clear that they are expecting the new Onimusha to be a big hit and are releasing several related products alongside the game itself, including a drama cd and a DVD/UMD that contains an 80min movie of the game entitled "Shin Onimusha The Story".

If all goes well Onimusha Dawn of Dreams should be released in the US around the same timeframe. For more details, check out our preview.

Guess it's true about those new songs then.
