I don't know- I'm not completely against them, but unless you're using heavy distortion, you can make the song sound more unique by playing minor, major, 7, add9, dim, and aug chords rather than power chords.... as for heavy distortion, power chords are best, since the other notes don't sound as cool with heavy distortion- and even then, when I do that, it is chord progressions (like tool- it's several different power chords in each bar rather than the same one) I'm very fond of blues shuffles- they are easy to play, and yet no big band uses them as much any more- they're very fun to play, especially when you experiment and play other notes besides the standard ones.... I don't know, I just think the Nickelback and punk bands are too overrated, as are all the incubus clones.....
