Since this part is vague even for Japanese listeners, I think it's not bad to remain them vague in the translation, too. (And I've found in online dictionary that "just maybe" is used as the translation of "moshika shite". )

Yeah, that sounds good.
You are right, this line is a difficult one to understand and the use of the word 'amari' is I think what makes it most confusing.
