 Now I don't think sex appeal is wrong, but she tries wayyyy too hard to be over-the-top with it. I just listened to 'ningyo-hime' a few days ago, and I don't really get it. I don't hear any melody, and she sounds really uncomfortable with the style of the song. I could understand if she was semi-popular like she was a few years ago (when she had better music), but seriously, she's not that great right now. I don't see the big fuss, at all. A majority of the 12 singles she released, including 'ningyo-hime', may be among the worst J-pop songs I've ever heard. 
 
Then again, I've never been wowed by Japan's Female Pop/R&B acts, with the exception of the brilliant Crystal Kay and Namie Amuro, who have managed to always 'keep it real'.
