Joanna Newsom certainly has a special voice (love-it or hate-it, you could very well say), but I personally love it to bits. An acquired taste, perhaps, though it was love at first, eh, sight, here. Moving, gripping, fascinating, beautiful.

Indeed - whichever way you look at it, Easy Breezy really is pure pop genius. It's a song that got harshly (but unrightly) judged for its sometimes too simplistic lyrics (though this is debatable, imo - there's (much) more to the Japanesey line than just an awkward cutesy statement), but the musical side of it is simply astonishing. And I don't mind sitting through lines of Japanesey and her having a new microphone just to enjoy those few minutes of pure pop pleasure. Exodus easily ranks among my favourite records of the last five years, too. Great music, very underrated.
