I find Rihanna to be a great singer, a singer, not an artist. I loved Pon de Replay when I downloaded it on a whim, seeing it was #3 on the Hot 100 and I liked it, I proceeded to obtain Music Of The Sun which, at times, was too evident about her culture (read: too much darn reggae!). Highlights included the amazing
Now I Know. When SOS leaked as that LQ 320-bitrate 48KHz song, I played it over and over, hoping it would get to me, but to no avail. Only when the video was released along with an okay rip, I began to love it without shame, nowadays I compare it to D. D. D. by Koda Kumi, they both have that non-stop singing thing going on which lasts almost 3 minutes. Then came A Girl Like Me, pleasantly, after only 8 months. I loved it so much more than her debut, highlights including
Final Goodbye and
P.S. (I'm Still Not Over You) (the way she sings out the letter is great).
I was also happy when I realized in November that I had been seeing the video for
Unfaithful since JULY. We Ride flopped, how sad.
And I also get this feeling that now that she's a successful singer, she doesn't need me anymore, she has plenty of other fans.
