Now it's different when you're covering older Japanese songs, especially when they are so old that the people who used to listen to them will still hardly care about you. So no matter how you look at it, your story doesn't hold water. Especially that only a selected few artists like Ken Hirai, JUJU and Hitomi Shimatani had success with covers, some were either very popular even before and some were forgotten quickly, while both Ayu and Ku are famous for their own songs, no one is going to look down on them because they've made a cover album.
