I have to agree with truehappiness, I'd personally like you to keep the lyrics as close to the original as possible. I believe that metaphors and phrases "not normally used by native english speakers" will still be pretty much undestood by the reader.
But whatever you choose to do, I thank you all very much for the hard work. ^^
