Questions about iTunes

I'm usually quite computer savvy, but I just can't figure out how to "customize" my iTunes! This is what I want:

- I want my Ayu albums to show in the order of their release, not in alphabetical order. And I also want them to show that way on my iPod, when I scroll through them.

- I want my Ayu stuff organized according to what type of CD it is. I want "albums", "singles" and "remix albums".

To illustrate what I mean, right now my album list starts like this:
ayu-mi-x
A BALLADS
A BEST (and 2)
BLUE BIRD
etc.

And I want it to look like this:
A Song For XX
LOVEppears
Duty

Can anyone help me? Basically I'm just an iTunes noob. Thanks!

You'd have to put album/single/etc and the date yyyy-mm-dd in the actual Album field to do that, to be honest. For example:

[Album 1999.01.01] A Song for XX
[Album 1999.11.10] LOVEppears

etc.... There's no other way to do it in iTunes, I'm afraid. But this'll do it.

i agree with Delirium-Zer0 that should do the trick or if you are really patient you will have to type the informations for each songs and sort it by year but if you do if you have other albums from the same year they will fallow each other it will mix up the artists unless you type ayumi hamasaki in seach in order to play only ayumi music .

or an alternative solution ( its usually what i do ) is to put a number in front of the title of the songs so they play in the order you want
ex
01 poker face
02 duty
etc ...
since ayu have so many albums singles and remix you might get big numbers in the end lol

Have you tried using the sorting options?

They're a second field where you can specify how you want a file to be sorted.

Like, for instance, you can have "Ayumi Hamasaki" in the regular "Artist" field and have "Hamasaki Ayumi" in the "Sort Artist" field and the result will be "Ayumi Hamasaki" on the display but she'll be sorted alphabetically under H in iTunes because her sort field designates her as "Hamasaki Ayumi".

There's also a "Sort Album" field so you should be able to arrange your albums chronologically by adding the date before the album title.

I'm not sure if the sort fields carry over to an iPod, though, as I don't use them myself...

^oh that's a good idea. I've seen the sort fields and always wondered what they were for. I'll try this when I get home!
