Most likely not but it also depends on where you're going. The chinatown in my city sells bootleg jpop CDs...and usually they are convincing, but I can tell the difference.

The reliable shops to find ayu stuff in the US are few and far between.

Honestly, if you can go somewhere with a Chinatown, the chances increase A LOT, but as a US citizen and rabid Ayu fan...it's near impossible...
I'm going to Uwajimaya in Seattle WA, USA in a few days. There's a bookstore called Kinokuniya that has tons of Jpop CDs and DVDs!!!

KINOKUNIYA bookstores, remember that! I bought some Ayu CDs and DVDs from there in the New York branch. Google it and there are a few locations!

Well, if you happen to go to Michigan, there is a small store in Novi that sells J-pop CD's (including Ayu's!) and magazines The store has all her recent ones (A COMPLETE, NEXT LEVEL, Rock 'n' Roll Circus) and a few older ones from other artists too As for the magazines, they have all recent ones, most with Ayu on the cover, or being featured in DejiDeji

I've only been there twice, though~ Hopefully they will have more in their inventory when you come, and if you have the chance to go~!

Well it depends. I'm in North Carolina and as far as I know, there's no shops that sell her CD's or I'm sure I would know of one lol. I think I've seen some used Jpop CD's at my local Edward McKay's but none for Ayu. So you'll still have to order her stuff online but the good news if you had to deal with custom fees in your country you won't anymore, lol.

Yeah, it really depends on where you're going. Seattle's been mentioned, there's little Tokyo in LA which also has a Kinokuniya.

What city are you going to specifically?

When I was in USA in 2008 I just ordered all "in stock" Ayu's CDs from jpopstop.com. lol But their prices are pretty high, though.

yeah, this GREATLY depends on what city you are going to. the US is pretty big.

that said, i know that the bookstore at Mitsuwa in Chicago has a nice jpop collection.

We have that bookstore in a mall around here and I found some recent Koda Kumi CD but no Ayu :/ It looked like it needed to be restocked though so I think that's your best bet!

Yeah like others said it depends on where you go.
For me, I'm lucky because there's a store about an hour away called Too Cool. They sell jpop and anime stuff. Including Ayu CDs. That's where I get my stuff. :3

^Me too, lol. If there was a shop near here... oh boy. My family would have to do nothing short of locking me up to keep me away from it.

There are no Kinokuniya stores in Illinois nor Texas. Your best bet would be to go into those obscure Japanese/Taiwanese stores and look around. I've seen Ayu CDs in surprising places.

If you happen to make it down to the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area they have tons of Japanese stores there, as well as Chinese and Korean. You should be able to come across some Ayu related things there. I thought I would never find anything Ayu related in my town (Tucson, Arizona) but I found A BALLADS at a used CD store here. I bought it as soon as I saw it. And it's not a bootleg!
Good luck to you~

I've been to the LA Kinokuniya. I really love the store. Everything is so neat and organized. They have the newest releases. Some negatives though are that...if you're trying to find a CD by an obscure artist, I'll use alan as an example (because that's who I was looking for when I went there)...they wont have it. Also, The prices suck....big time. An album will run you about $50 (I got Perfume's Triangle there when it was sold out everywhere else)....and a CD+DVD/Limited album will cost around $70. Strangely, their singles are very reasonable priced....$13 for a normal edition....what I would expect to pay with shipping included. No DVDs....if you're EVER in the LA area try for Book-Off. We have like 3 of them I think. You can grab first press ayu albums for like $7 each. They have concert DVDs too sometimes.

I was just looking at KINOKUNIYA online store...they have Uraayu book for about $30 USD, I would totally buy it if I had the money.
And yes, Los Angeles, California is jam packed with Japanese stuff. I Little Tokyo. If I could afford to, I would totally live in that area of LA. I really want to visit the Japanese American History Museum.

You really want to live in Downtown LA? LOL Little Tokyo is awesome but the immediate area surrounding it is pretty dirty and kind of dingy. The air sucks. I have yet to see the museum but it seems pretty cool. It's been on my to-do list for a while...

^I just love LA so much. I know it's not that beautiful or anything, but to be close to places i thoroughly enjoy, that would be like heaven to me.
