Rain was born in Seoul. He became interested in R&B and Hiphop dancing in the 6th grade. As an adolescent, he was a member of a boy band called Fanclub. The group was short-lived, and soon disbanded. Rain then began auditioning for various talent agencies. Finally, Rain entered an audition for Korean talent agency JYP Entertainment. Park Jin Young, the CEO of the agency, took a personal interest in Rain and accepted him as a trainee. During the early years of training, Rain was a backup dancer.

In 2002 he debuted with the album Bad Guy where he was introduced to the media through his stage name, Rain. The album's title single Bad Guy was a hit. After his first album, he took time off from his career as a singer to star in the drama series, Sang Doo! Let's Go To School. Following the success of his debut as singer and actor, Rain released his second album How to Avoid The Sun, and had another hit with the title song "Ways to Avoid the Sun."

His third album It's Raining sold over 1 million copies in Asia. According to a report by Rain's previous agency JYP Ent. to the Korea Culture & Content Agency, It's Raining topped the charts in all of the following countries as of December 29th, 2005: Japan (100,000 copies), China (500,000 copies), Taiwan (70,000 copies), Thailand (150,000 copies), Indonesia (50,000 copies), and South Korea (154,000 copies), for a combined total of 1,074,000 units sold, making it Rain's most successful album to date both domestically and internationally.

In April 2006, he was mentioned in the Time magazine website article that named the "100 Most Influential People Who Shape Our World." In 2007,Rain topped Time Magazine's online user poll, although he was not in the magazine's actual list. He has an ongoing joke feud with Stephen Colbert for the top spot.He also made it into People's 2007 list of the "Most Beautiful People" in the world.

Rain is now the official promoter of the new popular Samsung promotion, Any dream.

Here's the overall story of the video:

After losing to his rival, Rain sets out to find new members of his new dance team to join in on a big upcoming competition. After seeing who showed up to his tryout, Rain suddenly starts to lose hope. As he starts to lose hope, a mysterous girl shows up and shows Rain what she can do. After proving that she has the right moves, Rain lets her on the team as well as the other people that showed up to his tryout. As they practiced and practice for the big competion that is coming up, the girl that tried out for his team is suddenly taken away during practice one day. After finding out her background, Rain becomes pissed but he decides to send her clips of their dance rountine. The girl watches it and begins learning it. As the big day came, Rain cheers everyone up and gets up on the stage to perform. As they are about to start, the music they are to dancing to isn't working (due to his rival's mischievousness) but at the nick of time, the girl showed up with the song that they are to dance to, playing on her phone. The crowd gets wild and Rain and his team, including the girl, begins to show off their moves and eventually wins the competition.

Rain is to star in the upcoming popular anime turned big screen movie, Speed Racer.

This unique DVD release takes you through 24 hours in the life of Korea's biggest star, from waking up and eating breakfast to resting and working. Well, for me it's:

Despite people dissin' his music, he's not that bad like people say. I actually got into Rain when I heard his song Sad Tango () on my friend's mp3 player. I immediately fell in luv with him. So, I decided to limewire him and thus I fell madly in luv with his music...and this was before I saw how he looked. My gawdm his the hottest asian guy I've ever seen.

My favorite song is I'm Coming. How can it not be my favorite! The video was a major orgasm. I just hated that they didn't do the video with Tablo. I luv me some Tablo.


@Kaori: Puh-lease! Rain is waaaaay fuuking better than Se7en. (I do luv Se7en too! XD) Rain can outdo Se7en anyday.

Rain is a great dancer and performer, but his songs aren't really a big hit with me. Some of them are really hot, like Touch Ya from Rain's World, but his voice annoys me sometimes.



SE7EN's voice is strong, his dancing is amazing and he's cute. He may not have a body like Rain but he still has a body. And his US debut totally don't bomb...TWICE.





I do love Rain though, contrary to what I just said.

I think once Rain leaks a song, his popularity will shoot up in the States. An English song is exactly what I want from him right now, especially since Speed Racer is in the process of crashing and burning.

Nice pun! Yea, that's what I want for him. Rain's engrish is funny to me at times...at other times he sounds totally sexy. Since will.i.am is supporting Se7en, I wonder what producer will support him. I hope its someone better than will.i.am. Rain deserves someone better than him because Rain is a thousand times better Se7en. (Take that Kaori! )

I also heard that he was having some legal troubles so I'm kinda worried that he won't be able to debut in America just yet. At least for another year or so. Why did he have to be a big shot and leave JYP?!

^Yea. I don't know what position it was in the box-office but with all the money that was put into the movie, u can say it was a flop. Its such a shame too since so much promotion went into the movie. McDonalds corp even sponsored the movie. Now that's big...but it wasn't enough to convince people to got see it. Hopefully, it'll do better next weekend. I plan on going to see it just to see my baby Rain!
