Why is ayu your favorite artist?

Just a question that came to mind. But, not that simple of a question.

Like:

- If it is for her lyrics, like many people say, do you only like other artists for their lyrics, or do you prefer other artists for other reasons?
- Do you feel ayu is on par with her career right now as she was 5-10 years ago?

Or if she's not your FAVORITE artist.

- was she once?
- How does she compare with your other fav artists/bands? You don't have to mention any.

I just like her because she has such a huge catalog of music. She's done so many genres that appeal to my tastes. All her albums always sound so different from each other.

I also love her for her lyrics, they're so sincere and honest. And they are also very universal. There is at least one Ayu song I'm sure everyone can relate to.

But she is not my all-time favorite artist. I don't think she ever was. Maybe 2nd favorite all-time in the past. But she's one of those artists you'll never forget and will always go back to listen to.

It's hard to describe why I like ayu... Nowadays, B'z is at the top of my favorite artists. Like ayu, B'z musical style changes around too. They also have some unique lyrics too (like ayu).

Ayu brought me to Jpop and it was the first time that I really was a fan of an artists. Before it was like "Oh I like Song A from singer B" but I wasn't a realy fan of a singer but this changes with Ayu.
I like so many of her songs and videos and she got songs that can lift up my mood and songs I can just listen to when I feel sad.
And even though she is so war in away in Japan I don't feel that she is this far away because she is always so nice with the fans and she does not seem like one of those artists you can never reach! There are artists from my town that feel more like someone I could never reach!
But mainly it is, of course, because I love listening to her music and watching her videos!
And well, I can't really compare her to my other favoruite since I almost only listen to Idol groups and you can't really compare that xD

Ayu's my favorite singer because her music and lyrics fits perfectly with myself.
I mean, there's something special in her words and music. Something that make me say 'woah if I were a song I would be like that'. Lol that's a odd description but actually I really don't know how to say it (neither in my native tongue so it's complicated).

She wasn't the first japanese singer I listened to, years ago. When I was 14 I listened to many and many asian singers than her. But nobody else catched my attention and soul like Ayu. In other hand, she's also a lovely person which is very important for me. I really can't love a douchebag singer. Even if he/she would be the best singer in the whole world. I could love his/her music, but nothing else.

It's quite difficult to say why Ayu's my favorite artist. I just love her and her music. Period.

Ayu is my favorite artist (along with Lady Gaga) because I find her to be unique, distinct, fun, & heartfelt. I feel like she can't really be confused with any other artist because her style is so much different from other artists (Japan namely, obviously you're not gonna confuse her with someone outside of Japan lol). Her music takes you on this adventure...all her songs have so much imagination in them. Her lyrics are beautiful & always have something either true-to-life or touching to say. I especially love some of her abstract lyrics she uses.

Also, Ayu does pretty much whatever she wants which gives us quite a variety of styles to listen to. I really feel like no two albums are completely alike; all of them have their own unique sound to them. She has a versatile discography, yet she never really manages to disappoint me whenever she tries something new (unlike a lot of artists out there).

One other thing I love about Ayu is that she has such a sweet voice that I can never get tired of. It has this strained, raw quality to it that I just find to be so beautiful. & I love to listen to her discography & witness how her voice changed so much over the years; it's miraculous. It's no surprise though of course...with all those lives & tours she's done. Ayu's had her rough times, but she's still growing as both a singer & a performer .

So all in all, I just feel that Ayu is one of a kind. It's rare for me to find someone who I absolutely adore & who I can't get enough of...& who would've thought I would discover a Japanese artist to be one of my most favorite? Either way, Ayu is just awesome & I don't seem me ever really falling out of fandom any time soon that's for sure.

She is the only artist i know that start a concert with a heavy influenced rock tune, then change to a trance influenced song, then perform an emotional ballad, then dress as a bunny to sing some cute songs and then make an encore where you can do nothing but cry

I actually don't know why i like Ayu and why she is my favorite...I thought she was very pretty when I first saw her (i still think that) and then i really like her fashion, nail, etc. I feel proud to like Ayu and I dont know why because people usually compliment her. hmm it's quite hard to describe why i like her...but i'd like to try..
i like her because she's so unique.. she's known as a trend setter in Japanese fashion industry..n mostly ppl think artists like her could only sell her face or maybe just about body or fashion?.. but Ayu.. she's a true musician.. she can sing (not awesomely way but at least she can) and write her own lyrics, that's been enough for me to make me love her for so long since 2004..

Was first attracted to her music...it wasnt sounding commercial and it sounded powerful, moving, touching, original.

Then as I became a bigger fan of her music, I came to love her style and personality.

She's just...so sincere. Everything she says, everything that she does, everything that she writes...it's all 100% Ayu, and there's never anything fake with her. She puts her life out there for all of her fans to see, just so she can be close to them. She takes the time to write in English, a language that she isn't completely fluent in (yet!), just so she can communicate with her overseas fans. She recognizes all of her fans, and makes sure to try and keep everyone happy, nevermind all the drama. She isn't afraid to voice her opinion, and her opinion is always a wonderfully open-minded one. She is an extremely versatile person who is never afraid to try new things or visit new places, or even do things that only a few people could love. She doesn't care; she just has fun with it and puts 100% of herself into it. She has grown into a strong, powerful woman, from the timid squeaky-voiced girl she was at the beginning of her career, and I'm so so proud of her for that, looking at where she is now. She's the only singer who's actually touched my heart, and I owe her everything for that.
Then, about her lyrics... Every single one is handwritten by Ayu, and no one but Ayu. She pours her heart into those lyrics, and it shows. It's like looking into Ayu's heart with each song. Like GUILTY, we knew that Ayu wasn't having the best moments of her life... And with Love songs, we knew that Ayu was in love, and she wanted everyone to know. She's just so...real and I love her for it.
She's remained my favorite singer for all these 5 years because of all these reasons.. She's just such a wonderful person, and I think she is one of the people who do deserve to be famous and have nice things

I just love how she puts so much emotion in her songs. Even in the backup vocals. Whenever I listen to an (original mix-instrumental) I hear how amazing even her backup vocals are.

And she is such an amazing person. I love everything about her. She's really one of those people who actually have talent and deserve their status. (J-Pop empress / queen)

Only one thing i need to point out is that; Lately I feel that the lyrics in her recent songs resemble each other so much, that It doesn't makes it "original". I'd rather have her slow down with the sad songs, and produce happy songs which get you excited for everything .

She's also the only one who I ever would join an live show. Because she does not get's edited in the studio (her voice). It's all pure. + She switches from music-genre's so much during live shows. And the emotional ones always make me sob a little bit. AND that's a hard thing to do because I can watch horror-movies without crying when the hot chick is killed. lol

Everyone has said almost all I wanted to say, so I put this short.

Ayu is wonderful personality, her songs are unique, her lyrics are so full with emotion, with real feelings and thoughts. She's the only artist that get me bursting with happines or crying out loud. And that means her music has power. She really has The POWER of MUSIC in her hands. She's just so wonderful, pure and honest.

I love her ballads, I can relate to a lot of her lyrics about love, she's inspiring from my standpoint, and she's so gorgeous.

I started to dislike her around 2008 but she started releasing great music again and it made me fall in love with her again. Love songs is one of my fave albums of 2010.

Like Kingdom she's not my favourite artist, but she's on top of my list.
I love her charisma and her ability to make great songs with passion and her deep lyrics no matter which genre it is. She's so versatile I easily can relate to her, cause I personally like pretty contrary genres, lol. Just love her for the fact alone that she's making heavy rock songs here and there.
And her great personality is a plus.

But she's not my favourite artist because of various reasons. From her big discography I just like about 60-70% of her songs. She has a lots of ballads and slower songs and I'm not a ballad person.
She has a absolutely unique voice but just a decent singing talent.
I dislike how she acts so totally cute sometimes, singing and speaking in a cute voice. She's a cute person, but it's just too much sometimes. She's not in her teens anymore.
I love artists who can also dance while singing, I'm just a sucker for that. And that's not Ayu at all.
Though she is able to compensate that and making great concerts with choreography nevertheless.

- she makes amazing music
- writes her own songs and writes them well
- she is fantastic live
- she's absolutely gorgeous
- has a kind, sweet personality you can't help but love.

While she's not 100% perfect, she is just all around the absolute best artist to me and makes everyone else out there look bad in comparison.

She's much better now. Love Songs = one of her best albums, if not her best.
