A CLASSICAL: a rundown of your opinion!

Personally, My Story classical had some of her best rearrangements. So I was pretty hyped for this. After a lackluster cover (but w.e the my story one was just a key) I thought it would be sick for everyone to give their thoughts on each track and how they feel about it.

I especially made this thread for all those diehard fans who think if you aren't in love~~~ with this album then Y U A FAN DEN and they can get all pissed when someone has a normal opinion (cause it's funny)

so TL;DR is
tell what you think of each track, thoughts hopes and sadnesses! and overall

for me:

M- ok we've orchestra versions already... what a waste of a track. this is my favourite song so it better encapsulate all the awesomness

Love Song- i'm actually so excited for this!! no matter what it'll turn out amazing

SEASONS- as long as it doesn't sound as cheesy as the acoustic. this could have been a better song choice though

You & Me- ... what a WASTE of a track

BLUE BIRD- this'll be nice but... honestly..... thisll prob sound cheesy so why not a different track. i hope they do a good job cause this song is amazing

Days- this is a good song but they already have an acoustic orchestra version that kicks ass... why the hell would she make a different version again

Voyage- ok... doesn't this already have some acoustic orchestra mix or w.e LOL i'm not even going to check but this is a waste of a track

Song 4 u & Missing- this is avex saying "look at how amazing these relevant tracks are! buy them again!". Missing will prob be good, Song 4 u will be ok. What a WAAAAAASTE of space.

Dearest- they must do this justice... if they don't then i wish i lived in japan so i could join teamayu and just send troll emails all day to avex about how **** they are

sorry to all you who are sensitive but THIS RELEASE IS A WASTE OF MONEY. i would be down to drop $35 if they were fresh, innovative choices that would have undoubtedly turned out well. the ONLY song that was a good choice was Love song.
Where's JEWEL? Sparkle? Microphone? Part of me?? Songs that ACTUALLY would've been fresh and interesting to recreate.
SHAKE MY HEAD AVEX. this whole album is them slapping together some of the most popular singles with newer songs and hoping everyone will buy it without thinking
sorry for the rant.. as a fan i'm actually so sad this 15th ann. release wasn't as exciting as the 10th one or the 50th single one. I actually liked those ones. =/

Not too excited at all. It includes tracks I despise - BLUE BIRD, You&Me, Love Song, Voyage...But in a way, this is what is the good thing about these albums. Giving a song I have little or no love for a new life and possibly making me see it in a new, 100 times better light is kinda great. I'm hoping for awesome, out of this world, epic arrangements ^^

I think You & Me will probably be a surprise to most people, though the lyrics are probably still going to be a bit weird, haha. For all of the other songs, they've never had a classical reinterpretation like this before so I don't think a lot of assessments are correct in saying that tracks are a 'waste'. Now, if they put Moments or walking proud on here again, that would be a waste because they were already featured in classical form elsewhere.

Max, did you know that the Japanese fans chose the majority of the tracklist and they're pretty much loving the songs chosen? Also please keep in mind that the 15th anniversary has not even started yet.

Basically, ayu-mi-x 4 AO and ayu-mi-x 7 AO have shown me that a release that seems like a wasted tracklist could really go either way. I'm not making any judgments until I listen. But I do think even the JP fans would have voted differently if they knew this was what it was for. I don't think we need new reversionings of songs like M and Dearest, the AO versions of those are already very, very nice. However, if the Classical version of M bears some resemblance to the epic PoM version, for example, I'd be cool with that, since the AO version wasn't dramatic enough, in my opinion.

So I have very little opinion on the tracklist just yet, except for just not understanding it at all. I wish avex wouldn't repeat things uselessly.

The cover, however, I have no positive opinions on whatsoever. I will say that. The cover was a very, very stupid, lazy move.

it seems like a lame release to me. I'll be honest
I was hyped a lot with the news announcenement, but this album is farway down than MY STORY Classical already even without being physically released yet

I honestly doubt it...

I'm really curious about Blue Bird, Love Song and You & Me, as they are less obvious choices of songs to receive a classic arrangment.

I have to be honest, we might think JEWEL's sadly not there, but the fact that the popular songs poll were included to be used in a what-was-then-undisclosed project that led to A CLASSICAL...that just killed the chances for JEWEL to come. If the poll was announced after A CLASSICAL was announced, well, that may be a different thing...

...I just hope JEWEL will come out in orchestra version someday. But I have a feeling it might not be...

Neither JEWEL or MW ever made her japanese fan favorite polls, did them? Not sure about JEWEL, but MW I'm pretty sure never made it.

idk about them choosing differently though. Part of me thinks they would, and then part of me thinks they wouldn't. I do have a long time opinion that people don't give her Japanese fans, or the public, enough credit when it comes to their tastes, but, I guess it's hard to do that.

I'm personally only pressed about the new songs when it comes to the tracklist.


The cover can go **** itself again. I hate it. I don't care who drew it. You know what you do when you want to share something? You do a proper cover, even it's just a logo theme, and you put that drawing inside as a bonus.

$35 (or $37 is what I would end up paying in CDN), is kind of expensive for a remix album that has 10 tracks, especially compared to 'LOVE' and 'again', which were about $10 less and came with a DVD. Even if it had 12 tracks I would maybe consider dishing out the dollars.

I'm against remixes in general.
I see a remix as leftovers. You're taking the real thing, and its not as fresh, but you try to freshen it up by doing things to it.
Like how you try to heat up the leftovers, you rearrange a song.

But on RARE occasions, remixes work. Like how breaded meat cutlets NEVER do me wrong, leftover or not. The same with electronic remixes.

But this is orchestra. The song itself HAS to be orchestrated in the beginning. A remixed orchestra song turns me off faster than seeing back boobs.
