why wont ayumi go overseas?

has ayumi ever put a concert overseas? it seems to me her tours are all in japan only.

would she ever come to sydney for a concert? i reckon the fan base is big enough, if not its so sad, i guess i have to travel to japan to watch one

it would be nice if she would have a tour for overseas, just to show her appreciation to her fans worldwide, it really seems that she just really doesnt care.

luckily i only like ayu for her music, cose personally i believe shes a very shallow person.

Well, to say that she's shallow isn't exactly right. She always conveys a lot emotion through her lyrics and through her character. People who know her can identify with that, just like how close she is to Max Matsuura and all her friends. It's more than just the showbiz for Ayumi, she still treasures her mother and all her friends. She is also said to send e-mails to ELT's vocalist, Kaori.

Well, I think the PRIMARY reason why Ayumi won't go overseas, it's actually not her fault. Avex just doesn't see the potential in her going to other countries. I mean Avex's like playing the safe side and what's more, she is HOT in Japan. I mean everyday she has to like take photoshoots or record songs or appear on shows or go to LA to shoot PVs. In such a hectic schedule, you would have to understand it is literally impossible for Ayu to neglect her duties.

Yup, hope you'll understand. Try to learn more about Ayumi, she's creative and she's really got a personality ... DEFINITELY not as shallow as you think.

actually what you said basically back up my initial thoughts, she doesnt appreciate the fans as some of the stars do. if she had any appreciation of what the fans have done for her, she would ignore avex, and go overseas, even if its for some promo stuff, no concert.

but she doesnt.

for ayumi, by now, it shouldnt be about the money. shes got enough, so ignore all the, "oh japan shes so HOT right now" and just show some bloody appreciation to the other fans.

shes not that stupid to realise that there ARE fans OUTSIDE japan right?

She has gone overseas before. To Hongkong where she had a hand-shaking session with her fans.

I think Ayu ought to do something in teh US as well, theres a huge fan base here, what Avex ought to do is find out where sales are highest and form something, theres no point in bragging that you have something great if you keep it hidden.. (Ayu in japan I mean..)

exactly, some kinda world tour please. even if its not a concert, just go around, thank your bloody fans thats not in japan, its personally insulting.

ive goten to see all my fav asian stars, andy lau, nich tse, sammi, kelly chen (shook hands with her). they showed great appreciation.

bloody andy lau wouldnt stop singing until we went home!!! and the concert went for AGES!! i think 1-2hrs more then planned. NOW THATS DEDICATION!

not asking ayu for much, maybe just a apperance, one song, thats it, better then nothing atleast.

its not asking for much. shes filthy rich BECUASE OF PEOPLE LIKE US, so how about showing some appreciation back?

i'll say this agian: i like her songs and singing, but i'll never like ayu as the person. bit all to snobby for me.

Well, I can see where you're coming from. Well, ok, I mean I really believe Ayumi can do nothing about it really. Seriously, if you read what Ayu writes on Team Ayu and after like being a fan of hers for like 5 years (that's ME! :p), you'll see that Ayumi really appreciates her fans.

She even has her fans help her with her song, RAINBOW, by submitting whatever lyrics they have to her. When she has concerts in Japan as well, yar, she thanks her fans a lot too, and she never forgets to add in a personal touch at the end of the credits, by thanking her fans with her own handwritten words (ok, not all the time but there were a few occassions)

I know something that I will not doubt about Ayumi is her sincerity to her fans. It's not because she doesn't want to start a concert overseas, Avex is still holding onto her tightly and well, she can't just START a world tour just because she wants to. Avex probably doesn't have the hindsight to see that she has a large fanbase out there. To complicate matters, some articles have actually released something like "these people are BIG in their countries, but not overseas", and one of them is Ayumi.

I'm sure it would be great for her to do concerts, but it's an overcommitment on her part to her career in Japan. Just imagine, if Ayu was to do a worldwide concert, what would happen to all the shows in Japan, she probably wouldn't be releasing any single thing for a year and being one of the main source of income for Avex (her sales account for almost 30 to 40% of Avex's revenue, now that's A LOT). In her absence, it's quite definite that her popularity will plunge and Avex probably doesn't want that to happen.

And on yar, on your point of her coming over to sing one songs or two, I think that can be arranged, just like how she went over to sing for some China Peace Relations show. Yar, that, I think it'll also have to be subjected to the company's arrangement.

I'm taking this very objectively. It really wouldn't be fair to say that Ayumi doesn't go the extra mile, you'll have to examine the environment and setting she's in. As much as I hope for Ayumi to do a worldwide tour, it might take some time before that comes about.

Not to mention the whole money issue, I'm sure a world tour would cost a hell of a lot of money....
There's your reason it's probably not on the top of Avex's list.

And remember that Avex is straining Ayu with 40 stops alone for her Arena Tour this year. They're concentrating in Japan because they know that's where the most money can be made - you're talking about 6000 yen per ticket. So it's not so much Ayu's fault per se, but it's her management's fault. Remember that artists rarely have a say in what they do.

I don't get what you're complaining about. Did you ever think that maybe she just doesn't want to have an overseas concert? If that's true, then what? I mean it would be great if it happens but what's the point of getting angry over it if it doesn't. This also maybe a shock but yeah, it should be a one-way street, I don't think she has the time or the will to even care about you, everyone can't be pleased. You're making it sound like you know her personally and that she's been ignoring you for all these years or something.
If you only like Ayu for her music then what's the point of wanting a concert anyway? Listen to your cds. Let's not be bitter over her not being able to personally hug and thank everyone of her fans.
Tough cookies.

Well, how can Ayu IGNORE Avex? She's under a contract, for goodnessss sake! If you feel that Ayu is neglecting her fans, why don't you fly over to Japan to see her - like what many of her TRUE fans do? Sorry, but I don't understand why you're complaining about this.

Ayu did say she want to hold concerts overseas but the SPONSORS do not have enough capital to support her concert! She said she wanted the same quality as in Japan for the overseas fan but that is impossible because of the super high price. Do you know how much $$$$$$$ per Ayu concert cost? Do you know how many fans are needed in one country to just meet dividends? Avex wouldn't be so stupid to let Ayu perform overseas for no or little profit.

I hope that clarifies.

Well...that's not true...I've seen TMR, L'arc en ciel and Angela here in the US. I'd say Ayumi has a bigger fanbase here in the US more than all three of those (especially with Inuyasha and all.) TMR and L'arc had HUGE amounts of people seeing them perform. Maybe Ayumi just doesn't want to come over here again. She did have vocal training in New York I believe ya? Maybe she didn't like the US....

Chinese artists can go overseas simply because there are more Chinese people worldwide. I know Jacky Cheung and Andy Lau and a few others went to Vancouver, British Colombia, and LA because they could have enough people (mostly Chinese, too). Its tougher for the Japanese, since there aren't as many overseas.

And yes, it is the money. To have a concert you have to pay staff, dancers, equipment, etc. It's very expensive to hold one, and I am SURE the staff would want a paycheck ^^.

Ayu has gone overseas - MTV Asia Awards @ Singapore, Taiwan's Earthquake Disaster Concert (where she sang LOVE ~Destiny~), Hong Kong Photoshoot/handshaking session, and Indonesia for donating some $$$ for the AIDS organization.

Heck, Hikki hasn't even bothered having many concerts in Japan, and she does care about her fans.

yeah there was a newspaper article on Ayu wanting to hold a concert. But she wanted to have it exactly like how her concerts in Japan would be, everything Made in Japan. And since the economic status of Japan is so high, the labor to make parts or clothing would be VERY expensive. (Think, you can pay a dollar to someone in China for making a shirt since a dollar goes a long way, but in Japan, you are going to have to pay 10 bucks, or they won't even bother taking the job since the standard of living is higher).

Hrm...how can you say Ayumi is shallow when you don't even know her? I mean, I would argue that she isn't shallow, and really, the reasons you gave don't support that opinion.

And also, it's not so easy as all that. Ayumi can't just decide, "oh I think I'll give an overseas concert" and then go do it. And also, think of how many fans she has in Japan, and compare that to overseas...the fanbase is so much smaller. I mean, it would almost be crazy for her to go overseas. And another thing, it would be a little difficult for her as well, since she speak japanese...

It's not that.. I wonder why all of our American music is so popular in different countries. It's simple as this -- Ayumi doesn't speak English very well. There are a lot of stupid *******s that won't even listen to anything unless it's in English and they are able to understand it (which is pretty sad to me if you ask me).

I know Ayu's music is popular in places in Europe.. and here with all of us here on AHS.. however, nobody's really seen an Asian singer become famous here in America -- because of our ugly stereotypes and because 'they say we don't all speak English.' It sucks ass and it's sad.

Besides, we want Ayumi to ourselves, right?
