I'll say Kyo and Calegero. they're my favorite French band/artist.

(I like Laurent Voulzy, Raphaël, Jonatan Cerrada too.)

Air! Air is flat-out brilliant, I can recommend pretty much anything they've done. My personal favourite is Talkie Walkie, which is also their most accessible and most consistent work, but Moon Safari, The Virgin Suicides, and their other works are excellent as well.

Another excellent 'band' (it's just one guy now) is M83; they're like Air, but more like the rock/shoegaze brother of them.

Also a band I recommend is Phoenix; I'm not too crazy about them, but they do make some catchy, accessible pop-rock. I like their song Too Young, check that one out.

~_~ Mou... the thing I have a question about is WHERE I can get their music? I mean- yeah "support the artist" blah blah blah- but I'd rather sample their work first before I buy anything :X And with J-music I use bitTorrent and with French music? I dunno what I'd use :O

I think my dilemna right now is that I'm still getting used to how FAST the french talk ((I'm taking classes right now- so I know a bit)) that even being a frequent listener of http://www.europe2.fr is hard >_< So many good songs--- not picking up on the artists name sometimes XD

Great to see you like them, big fan myself as well. ^^ Cherry Blossom Girl is a brilliant song (with a horrific video!), it's on the album Talkie Walkie which is excellent!

As for their lyrics, Air used to have some French lyrics, but I think the last time they did a French song was on Moon Safari (Sexy Boy etc.). I'm not sure if M83 always did English songs (they do now), I have their first album so I'll check that out.

hana_sanctuary, I'll upload some my favorite French songs later.

for Live Webradio, I recommend Frequence 3. I started listen to this webradio since this January, and Frequence3 is not just a French music radio, they also plays many great songs from other countries (USA, UK, German music.) so that's why I love this webradio. (plus, they'll show every tracks, so if you like the song they just played, you could check it on the site.)

EDIT: hey guys, here are some of my favorite French tracks. five songs included.
Kyo - Ce Soir [Tonight] (soft rock ballad)
Jonatan Cerrada - Mon Paradis [My Paradise] (totally pop, the theme song of the animation "Robots" in France)
Larent Voulzy - Je suis venu pour elle [I Came For Her] (released in 2002, I think it's the best of all. a touching ballad)
Calogero - Face à la mer [Watch The Sea] (a mix of rap and rock. I think Calogero is a legend, and he's talented too.)
Raphaël - Les Petits Bateaux [Those Small Boats] (it sounds disconsolate to me, I felt sad whenever I hear this song.)

Download here.
