The song WHATEVER

Okay I downloaded this song and its about 7 minutes long and it really sounds like a remix, so i was just wondering is it? (sorry i know the description is vague) if it is, how long is the original and is it really upbeat like this version?

The WHATEVER single contained 2 versions:

WHATEVER (Version M) (5:36)
WHATEVER (Version J) (4:32)

The version on LOVEppears is:

WHATEVER "Dub's 1999 Remix" (7:20)

I consider WHATEVER "Dub's 1999 Remix" the 'original' mix, but that's just according to the way I organize songs.

I consider Version J the original mix since it's mixed by Atsushi Hattori, and yeah, the others all do sound like remixes.

I consider the LOVEppears version "original" too...just because I haven't heard the other two versions before. I think I heard one of them on a CM before..

Oh, and another reason to consider the LOVEppears version the "original" one....I think she performs that version the most at concerts.

ohh okay, so there's not really just a song out there called WHATEVER by itself that the mixes are based off of.

Ayu works in mysterious ways.

Hai, she works in mysterious ways. I don't think she does much of those remix "originals" on albums anymore. Last one I can think of that had different versions was Endless Sorrow.

WHATEVER is a song that divide periods. The "version J" is regular jpop and reminds more of her ASFXX material, the "version M" is more electronic and suits much more her LOVEppears material. Clever marketing.

I think she sang the version that's on her LOVEppears album, but I could be wrong. That was how it sounded like to me when I was there though.

that's true. I was surprised to see that the version on the album sounded remixed...and that there wasn't an "original" anywhere...not even on the singles.
