From The Choirgirl Hotel is her best album by far IMO.

I agree. "Spark" in general is one of her bests. The meaning behind is really sad. "Jackie's Strength", "Raspberry Swirl" are so great.

I think you might enjoy her "Scarlets Walk" album more (listen to the songs "Sorta Fairytale" ...it dosen't set the mood of the album but I think in general it's a great song). It's more mainstream and it's easier to get into. Some of her other works are hard to work your way into, you have to really get used to Amos' style. Some other good songs are, the cover she did of "Strange Little Girls," "Corn Flake Girl," "Silent All these Years."

Some youtubes:
Strange Little Girls
Spark
Raseberry Swirl
A Sorta Fairytale

My favorite album is "Boys for Pele", bbut maybe you should get "Under the pink", as it is more accesible.

Tales Of A Librarian since it's a collection of singles and some songs Tori liked. Somewhat of a greatest hits except Tori's songs are never regarded as hits...

If you want a song, I recommend Spark since it's the first Tori song I heard and the one I instantly liked. Sleeps With Butterflies is also very nice, mellow and pretty. God has superb lyrics and cool music. Raspberry Swirl is poppy, fun, weird but addictive. Hey Jupiter is her saddest song ever for me and it's amazing. A Sorta Fairytale is so good you will want to listen to it every damn day.

I recommend Tales of A Librarian for the same reason MC Tatsujin said. Tori Amos is awesome and all but I think she's possessed...

Well, you can download her albums, that's fine, but if you want to buy something, wait a little, until September, when she will release a kick-ass box set. It's almost a dream come true, the tracklisting contains some album tracks, demos, rarities, remixes, b-sides and it's a 5 discs set!!

"to venus and back" is a really good place to start too... Not only is disc 1 great (the same genre really as "from the choirgirl hotel"... very synthesizer-/rock-based material), but disc 2 is live stuff, and IMHO you haven't really heard tori till you've heard her live.

I would also recomend you to buy Little Earthquakes, to me Me & A Gun it's also one of her saddest, most tragic songs...

And I love her Angie version from the Rolling Stones on her Hey Jupiter single.

I believe her most recent album, The Beekeper, was something not that commercial and really mature... not many people liked it but I do love it... Specially because of The Power of Orange Knickers.

Have a nice afternoon listening to Tori.

I've been desperately looking for some PV of Tori, has anyone got Sleeps With Butterflies?

It's the other way round.. The Beekeeper is her most commercial album. I love it too, especially The Power Of Orange Knickers, I forgot to mention that song. It's so good and nice to listen to. I never get bored of it, even when played back to back. Sleeps With Butterflies and Cars And Guitars are probably her most commercial songs ever but they are so good!

I don't have Sleeps With Butterflies PV and I've been looking for it too. You can watch it in Yahoo! Videos but it's pretty small. They used to put that song on medium rotation in MTV Asia. The PV is so beautiful.

"Scarlet's walk" is my least favorite from hers, so the rest of the albums will be even better for you

And you can find all the info about the new box set here: http://undented.com/news/41/get-read...rities-box-set

A PIANO: THE COLLECTION, will be a five-disc, career-spanning box set consisting of classics, rarities, demos, B-sides and unreleased tracks. And yes, indeed, very exciting news for Toriphiles … Tori will finally introduce us to five very special songs: “Not David Bowie,” “Zero Point,” “Peeping Tommi,” “Ode To My Clothes” and “Dolphin Song.”

Presented in deluxe packaging that resembles a piano’s keyboard, this set will be released by Rhino Records on September 26, 2006, and will be available at regular retail outlets and at the Rhino Records website for a suggested price of $74.98.

Produced by Tori, the career-spanning collection highlights selections from her studio albums as well as b-sides and songs that debuted on Tales of a Librarian. Featuring numerous unreleased songs, the box set contains a total of 86 tracks that combine well-known studio versions with rare alternative mixes, including several songs Tori remixed for this project. A PIANO: THE COLLECTION also offers a revealing and extensive track-by-track commentary penned by Tori, who discusses the inspiration behind the songs and albums and explains why they were chosen for this box set.
This is like the most amazing thing ever. But that price... I'm really gonna get this and revel in its glory.
Quote:
Several people have asked us if the A Piano: The Collection boxed set is the “new album” Tori was reported to be working on.

No, it is not.

A new album is currently in the works; we expect it will be released sometime in early 2007 with a tour following shortly after.

Matt Chamberlain has posted that recording on Tori’s next album will be starting as soon as next week!

In his June 2nd news update, Matt writes:

Just packed up and and shipped a bunch of drums to be sent out to Cornwall England for next week when I start recording the new Tori Amos record—lots of recording and learning going on…...

Thanks to Robert Schrader for bring this to our attention.

And, just to recap the little we know about the new record (as all of this predates Undented), the first whiff of a new album came up in June 2005 when Tori played a new song durng the soundcheck of the Bonn stop on the Original Sinsuality tour. A couple months later, she confirmed in an In Newsweekly interview that she was working on new material but that the earliest it would be released would be 2007. Tori divulged more on XM Artist Confidential saying that the “warrior woman” inside her would come out more on the next record. Finally, in an interview Rolling Stone posted at the end of March, she talked a little about how the next record appeared to be a different new chapter and that we “hadn’t felt this Tori in a while.”
WOW, EVEN BETTER! Sorry out of excitement I double posted!!

Oh this is good!! (not for my money)

I was expecting something like this!!

I already have the whole collection of albums and almost every single!

This is gonna be great, official B-Sides and Covers!

Well, about the Live collection it's still growing and i'm on the hunt for them hehehehehe, has anyone ever gone to DiagnosedSounds? There's alot of Tori's Live stuff with the rarest covers and songs.

*+D.N.A.+*

EDIT: I checked the tracklist and I have most of the songs... but it will still be wroth buying because of the sound quality and the art.
