The One Song to Convince them All

If you were trying to convince someone to like Ayu's music, and you could only play for them one song, which would it be?

im...currently undecided. would it be a song thats catchy, fast, slow, full of meaning, or just your favorite?

I think it'll be my favourite song, and of course the song that many people think 'it's a good song'

First, i ask them to hear Wonderland, and say "it's good, right??"
Then, i show them some Ayu's video clip,,
Then I show them the concert,,

I would probably choose "Dearest" to convince them....merely because it was the first song I had heard of Ayu's.

good question...maybe I'll play to them "ourselves" because its so catchy~ but realistically I would ponder for hours just to play the "right" song.

edit: ^ oh yeah ourselves is a pretty good song to convince someone as well I guess

some awesome ballad, like maybe HEAVEN, Dearest, CAROLS or RAINBOW
as for upbeat songs, I'd choose Ladies Night, or UNITE!

thats bound to convince everyone ^^

I did show a friend the Ladies Night PV at a party and she just looked at me and asked "are you serious??? do you actually like this?" and my boyfriend just laughed saying "yeah, can you believe he orders this stuff from japan!?"
I was so angry, I felt humiliated.

but I would probably choose a song that matched the person I would convince...
a friend likes trance, then maybe Connected... rock - Game... and so on.

Yeah I agree that we should play different songs to people with different tastes.

For my part I'll choose some ballads like Moments, Dearest and so on. Ayu's ballads are great.

I would choose Memorial Address, because it's the song that convinced me

Tsuki, don't feel bad about it, it's their loss.. Some people just don't understand Ayu. I remember I was watching an Ayu performance and my sister's boyfriend walked in, and when it was over he said "You actually listen to this music for fun?" I was offended too, but I guess some people just don't like Ayu (or Jpop, for that matter).

And my parents don't understand why I order Jpop online, or why they have to drive to a hard-to-find district in some German city to find a shop that's supposed to sell Jpop CDs. Luckily, they don't mind doing it

Well... from experience I can say, that:

Evolution. BUT! I'd play it only for those who already know something about j-pop or watch anime. Evolution works for those who know what j-pop usually sounds, because well... evolution is not "ordinary pop music".

And for those who know nothing about japanese culture: Real Me.
I've some friends who have hated Ayumi Hamasaki and everything japanese... I sent them Real Me PV and now they like Ayumi. Some are new fans, others just like to play that one song.

Other songs that have also worked: ourselves, GAME, Moments, Endless Sorrow and M.

Rock - GAME/(m)u/alterna
Ballad - Moments/HEAVEN
Upbeat - Born To Be.../fairyland

General - Moments, evolution, HEAVEN, GAME (all covered)

Yeah, me too. STEP you is really good, it got one of my friends interested. After that she asked me to burn her a CD of every single Ayu song I had!
Took ages though

Though, I don't think Ladies Night is a good way to introduce someone to it. I really didn't like the song when I first heard it, took me a while to start liking it. I think the main reason I convinced myself to try to like it was "It's Ayu. If I don't support her, who can I expect to?"
But for some person who has no idea who she is, what she's done and is biased for not liking her regardless, they're not gonna budge unless it's a brilliant song. So an easy way to choose the best song is by choosing her Best Selling songs.
M, Evolution work well. Boys and Girls may be alright for those who like happy music. It does all depend on the person....

Hmm. I have interesting idea. For every person in the forum, let's all try and introduce at least 1 friend to like ayu by playing a song to them.(Or a PV, they really do grab attention. Eg. Endless Sorrow, without a translation there, may not be such a brilliant song compared to the PV...that make sense? ) Then we can watch the forum members rise, ayu sales rise, and we can all make new friends! Well, at least in a perfect world. If you convince someone, tell us!
