Ayumi mentioned in mystery novel
I am currently reading a Japanese mystery (by an American author) that mentioned Ayumi in her novel. This is how she mentions her:

An animated billboard advertisement for Panasonic's new camera featured the singer Ayumi Hamasaki smiling down like an angel of the Tokyo night. Keep me safe, Ayumi, I thought to myself. And don't you dare take a picture of me in these clothes.

But the author has spent many years in Japan as an English teacher.. and has done a lot of research into Japanese culture / history. This book came out last year, so heheheh

thanks for sharing, i always wonder if there'll be any ayumi references when i read books about japan. the closest i've found is references to kinki kids (i think) in a banana yoshimoto novel.

The only time I ran across a reference to Ayu was in the manga Othello.
