Ayu`s Voice

Some people say her voice sounds nasal. I for one LOVE Ayu`s voice. I find it very soothing. I sometimes fall asleep listening to some of her ballads like Dearest, Rainbow, M, HEAVEN, etc.

I love Ayu`s voice.

hitomi's voice is nasal as well and I absolutely love her. it's not like we're making fun of ayu.

It takes a while for newbies to adjust, but as all Ayu listeners here we love her voice no matter what. the emotion and meaning is all that matters. besides she's taking her nasal voice to a good direction now, after the I am... album.

For some songs it's really nice, for some it's not very nice.

I like her voice in her more recent songs better.

yes, martin. her new stuff is best.

i love ayu's voice. It's so unique. I know it instantly.

i recently started to not like it in For My Dear "Acoustic Orchestra Version"
because she was REALLY straining.

Very much so, and I also love her voice. I just love it less in her earlier stuff (ASfXX era).

hmm.. Dont know if you meant me for the word "newbie" Maybe I am a noobie for this forum but I wouldn't say I'm a newbie for Ayu's music. This is just my opinion, sometimes it sounds nasal during liveperf what I've watched. The sound may change when speaking about videos of course but still..
No hard feelings

And also I ain't saying it's a bad thing, I like the way she sings but to some ppl say it sounds awful what I've heard.

I think he means me. LOL. As muh as I hate to admit it I am sort of a newbie to Ayu`s music. I started listening to her back in May. I wasn`t trying to say anything bad. I just wanted to say that Ayu`s voice is very soothing

oh yeah, it`s been 3 months and I`m totally obsessed with Ayu. She`s all I listen too

I love her voice too. In fact, that's one of my favorite things about her music. Then again, I am attracted to female artists with that sort of voice. (like hitomi, Nanase, KEIKO, etc.) I don't like "perfect" voices all the time. (Like 95% of everyone on American Idol) I actually think that artists with voices like Ayu's are better at conveying emotion, since even if they are noticably straining, it lets you hear just how much effort they're putting into their lyrics/music.

Ayu's voice is so distinct and memorable, and she has a truly amazing ability to convey emotions through her vocals. Every year her vocals become technically more impressive while still retaining the incredible expressiveness and unique sense of urgency that made her vocals so special in the first place. What I love most about her voice is her versatility as a vocalist. Ayu can really handle any genre or style of music effortlessly.

I totally agree with Calico. I find that when singers strive to have technically flawless vocals, they often lack the ability to give truly emotionally moving vocal performances. Personally, I find "perfect" voices to be too conventional and commonplace.

Although I think Ayu's voice is far from perfect, I think she had great improvement over the years of her career. Songs like "free&Easy" and "will" really shows her voice improvement.

But I really think the greatest thing about Ayu's voice is how emotional it is.

Agreed. Couldn`tve said it better myself

Ayu`s voice is memorable. She really puts 100% into each and every song. She`s free with her music. She opens up to all of us. Very soothing to listen to her voice. Ayu sings me to sleep late at night sometimes

And I don`t like "perfect" voices either.

He happen to be one of the younger members of this board. 10th grade, I think? Sorry for guessing.

I just got out of 10th grade. I forgot everything I learned over the summer. That sucks. Summer does that to you. LOL. I haven`t really been working on "expanding my vocabulary" either. LOL
