Ayu Fan Tribute CD? ^_^

I was wondering if anyone was interested in helping with an interesting project; doing an Ayu tribute album with only Ayu fans singing/performing the songs. I got this idea from Fayenatics: The Album which is a similar cd done by Faye Wong fans about five years ago.

The types of songs you do on the album could be as simple as singing along to an instrumental, but you could get creative and re-do the songs completely; do new arrangements, new lyrics, even remix or sing an ayu song a capella (vocals-only). Maybe do a sequel to an ayu song, like how ayu did with FRIEND/FRIEND II and POWDER SNOW/POWDER SNOW II.

If you want an idea of what i'm thinking, here's info on the Faye Wong cd:
http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/8598/...enaticscd.html
http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/St...aticalbum.html

(I'm posting this same message at other groups too, trying to get as many people as possible interested in the idea ^___^ It could be pretty cool!)

*follow-up post -- copied from what i said at the ayumix forum*

...All any of you would have to do is send or upload an mp3 of yourself. If you don't have confidence in your singing or musical talent, don't send an mp3... but chances are most of you will do fine. ^_^ Keep in mind though, a CD can only hold so much, so if i get too many people sending me files, I will have to cut away the people whose songs aren't as good. Don't take it personally if you don't make it, just keep trying and maybe you'll get in the next time we do this (*hint hint* ^^).

As far as designing a cover, i'm going to take submissions for the design, and then hold a vote. Depending on how many I get, I may fish out the ones I favor, and then vote from amongst those. I'll post more details on that after the music's done.

Chibinina is a good singer so maybe she can sing Hananbi for you. I suck so I won't screw up your CD with my signing, hahahahaha. Good luck with the project. If you need help let me know.

I don't think the guys would need to sing if they didn't want to (although I don't see a problem with a male covering an Ayu song). Why not submit an instrumental version or your own remixes?

Well obviously in taking liberties with her songs, you CAN change what key they're in if you have the ability to. I do hope to hear a few guys on this

lol... if I tried singing on the CD, the CDs would break and no one would ever want to buy anything again

But as Grant said, Chibi can do it nicely

Aaaaah! A song! I'd be willing to do one, but like last time, how would I record it? My parents would think I'm weird for begging to go to a recording studio to record a Japanese song. I don't have the H single either. . .

Right now I really like the song "Dolls," but there isn't an instrumental to it that I know of. If I can somehow get my DVD-RW drive connected, I could burn an instrumental of HANABI onto the disk and use it, but I know it will be strange to do it with my parents knowing.

ehehe, i just use my microphone and play the instrumental in the background. *very ghetto* but it's in the privacy of my dorm room, so with the exception of my roommates thinking i'm crazy, it's all good!
it would be soooo awesome if we could do a BIG ahs collaboration like they do in SM Town for their "summer/winter in SMTown" album songs like "summer in smtown" or "my angel my light" (if u donno what these are, basically it's all the famous recording artists of this korean record company that get together to put up a collaboration album every summer/winter....very fun )

Well, I can try. Doubt it will come out well, but oh well. I think I might try an English version of her songs. Which one, though? Hmmm...

Post this URL everywhere!

http://www.geocities.com/talula1412/

It'll be the Ayu tribute headquarters. I'll post a basic FAQ there, and any info anyone wants.

HEY! That's really cool! I wonder if any other japanese artists have ever thought of covering Ayu tho... It'd be fun to hear Gackt singing "Girlish"
just a thought....
But I'd have to do it the ghetto way if I were to record an ayu song... hehe

A good way to do the singing-along-to-an-instrumental is to record your voice along to the instrumental, but be listning to the instrumental with headphones so that the microphone doesn't pick it up, then use a program like goldwave to paste your vocals onto an mp3 of the instrumental version ^_^

Such a cool idea! Well... I know it's dumb, but I want to be a singer, and if I ever got famous enough, I wanted to do an Ayu tribute album. I think it would be cool!

I'll sing a song!
