Editing thread titles

can anyone teach me how to change thread tittle ???
or is it only mod can change thread tittle ??

I think only mods can change the thread title o_o I tried changing mine before...but yeah, no go. ^^;

^ True, that never worked for me, and i got frustrated trying to. The most you can do is edit your post, but that's it.

I remember the staff saying there was a time limit for how long members can edit their topic titles, a couple of minutes or something like that after posting. After that limit has passed only staff can edit topic titles. I've come across the same thing at another forum that uses vBulletin.

yeah, i've never been able to change mine either. or i think what happens is that in the forum it doesn't change, but when you actually go into the thread the title will be different there only. i dunno, but i hate when i make a thread and have a typo in the title and can't change it, i'm a perfectionist.

Absolutely correct. The limit is 5 minutes. Within that time you should be able to edit the title by double-clicking near the title in the forum listing, or by editing the post title.

After 5 minutes you can ask a staff member to do it.

no wonder i was very shock to see that i can edit the title last time, guess i'm within 5 mins. nice to know that. the next time i made a mistake, i won't need to go trobling the staff.

Why is it that at AHS, when you change the topic's title, it is not changed in the forum, but only in the individual post?

It just seems a bit inconvenient to have a mod change the title every time you would want to.. just curious.

but you can change thread titles...i change them all the time...that's why when they had the "II" thread in suggestions, i didn't understand why the mods had to do it, when the person who made the thread could do it.

you do it from the boards, not the individual post....for example....if I made a thread in the Chat room...called...."What is your gender?" and I accidentally made a mistake in the title....I would just go into the Chat room, NOT INTO THE ACTUAL THREAD...then I would just click on the title...or rather...to the right of the actual text...where there is still room in the title, but the cursor still looks like it is over text....and a little text box that has your title in it will appear and you can edit the title however you want to.

hmm....it seems you are not able to do this anymore...why did it change?

Well, it still wouldn't appear differently in the forum.. I know you can change it in the topic itself but not when you see it from the forum.. >>

^^no, you could....before, and it would change the title everywhere....i know because i used to do it....but i havent changed a thread title in a while....it doesnt seem to work anymore...

i think you can still change the thread title if you are even the limit time. i remember changing once before.

I think you can only change the threads title so that it shows up on the board and not only inside the post as long as you haven't gotten any replies, after that it will only show up when you enter the thread.
