(review) Vanessa Hudgens - V

i hope this is in the right place...but anyway, ive decided to occasionally do reviews...hopefully they can encourage people to support an artist, or keep them from wasting money lol. but anyway, this is my first review, on Vanessa Hudgen's debut album, V.

SONGS:
Come Back To Me:
this is her debut single. it's a mid-tempo r&b song supported by violins (may be violas or cellos...im not sure). It's one of my favorites of the album. There aren't many big flaws in this song. 9/10

Let Go:
This is a r&b/pop mix, supported by a guitar. The chorus is really catchy, but the Jazzy part after the second chorus sounds really weird. Her voice sounds slightly deeper in this song. Again, not any big flaws. 9/10

Say OK:
Another r&b/pop song, supported by a harp. It's not really one of my favorites. It sounds a little repetative, and the chorus is hard to tell from the verses cuz it keeps the same beat as the verse. Other than that, no other faults. 7/10

Never Underestimate a Girl:
This is a cool song, r&b/popish, supported by a flute, which sound really cool together. The chorus is really catchy. It's one of those girl powerish songs. 8/10

Let's Dance:
Now we're talking. This song has a strong beat, great sound, and is solely r&b. I would compare it to Rihanna's S.O.S. This is another one of my favorite songs. 9/10

Drive:
This song is pretty poppish. It's like something from Hilary Duff's pop era. This isn't one of the best songs on the album. It's a little dull in my tastes. 5/10

Afraid:
Her first attempt at a ballad...and she did ok. It lacks real emotion. Not to say its a bad song, but it could be better. 6/10

Promise:
Another good r&b song. It sounds like something Rihanna would do. I don't like the chorus much though. It's flow is really preverse, and could use a bit more structure. It's an ok song. 8/10

Whatever Will Be:
My favorite song from this album. It has great lyrics, nice arrangment, and Vanessa sings this really well. Its her second ballad, and its A WHOLE LOT better than Afraid. perfect ten on this one. 10/10

Rather Be With You:
Ehh, to me, this is just another song. Her voice sounds really deep in this. The chorus saves this song. It's a good, strong chorus. It sounds like something from Hilary Duff's second album, Hilary Duff. 8/10

Psychic:
I think this is a cover of an old song, by someone i can't remember the name of. It's an ok song. I cant compare it to the original because ive never heard it. I personally don't think her voice is suited for this kind of music. It's kinda r&bish, but it sound a little....hm i cant put my finger on it. 8/10

Lose Your Love:
Here we have another one of my favorites. It's a great r&b song. It has a cool echoey clap background beat. It's a bit low key, and not the kind of song you would really imagine to end an album, but its a great song. It reminds me of Rihanna's If It's Lovin' That You Want Pt. II. 9/10

i like this album. It should fall firmly into the r&b category. I can see her becoming immensly popular in the next few months. Most of the songs are supported by an instrument that you wouldnt really imagine to be in r&b music, like violins in Come Back to Me, a harp in Say OK, and a flute in Never Underestimate a Girl. This is a strong debut album, and hopefully it sells well. I think it already is. It was on the chart-topping rack at walmart. I cant remember what number it was though...maybe 14? i cant remember.

DESIGN:
The design is very nice. There are a lot of pictures of a necklace with a rhinestone V at the end.The booklet has a beach theme. She looks beautiful in the pictures. The lyrics in the booklet have a weird looking structure, but i dont care about that much.

OVERALL:
Overall, i really reccomend this album is yur interested in Vanessa, or maybe just r&b music. If you didnt like her in High School Musical, don't hesitate to buy this. There is nothign reminiscent about it on this album. Her voice sounds a lot better than it did in the movie. It sounded high during High School Musical, but here it's a little deeper and trained. I hope you enjoy this album like I am. my overall score for it is 9/10.

You reviewed well, but not enough to convinve me to buy her CD. I took an instant dislike to her the moment she acted in the opening scenes of High School Musical. She's portrayed so irritatingly naive and innocent. Plus she ain't that pretty. I can't stand her acting, it's dreadfully boring.

lol YAY i did well....i didnt like her at first either...i thought she couldnt act or sing. But i saw Come Back to Me on disneychannel, and HAD to get this cd...
