NEW SUPER GROUP: SKIN (MIYAVI, GACKT ETC...)

Skin is an upcoming supergroup consisting of several Japanese rock musicians. It is to include Gackt, Miyavi, Sugizo and Yoshiki. The group will give its debut performance at Anime Expo 2007.

In August 2006, Yoshiki (formerly in X Japan and Globe) announced at Otakon that he would start a band with Gackt (formerly in Malice Mizer).[1] In December of the same year, it was reported that Sugizo (formerly in Luna Sea) might be joining the group as the third member.[2] Finally, on May 25, 2007, at the J Rock Revolution festival in Los Angeles, Skin was eventually announced, including the previously discussed artists, as well as Miyavi (formerly in Dué le quartz). Skin will perform at the Anime Expo convention in Long Beach, California on June 29, 2007.[3] On May 27 it was announced that a U.S. tour would start after the Anime Expo performance, followed by some performances in Japan in November.[4] Yoshiki confirmed that the group will release an album and that rough recordings of several songs were made in March 2007. A bassist has not yet been determined.[5]


A few days after the newly announced lineup Yoshiki stated in an interview that the band had recorded 7 or 8 tracks in principle for the upcoming album. [6] A sample of one of these tracks can be heard in the popup window regarding the band on Miyavi's official website. [7]

It's all true. I was at Jrock Revolution when Miyavi, Sugizo, and Yoshiki were all on the stage together and the announcement was made for the Anime Expo show.

I will be at Anime Expo to photograph that show. I've already been approved to it.

I think it's a nice idea but having Miyavi and Gackt in the same band is gonna result in a huge ego clash between the two.

Since I was going to AX I figured it might be interesting to see it since I've never seen a concert for any artist ever before. I looked up the process and apparently you have to jump through hoops for tickets, and they cost $50 apiece.

Needless to say I don't really care to go to the concert that badly since that alone is almost the full cost of a 4-day pass ($60). I'll just go celebrate not spending all that extra money with a picnic on the beach or something

Hearing this news was total shockness because every member in this band is ultra flamboyant and it's really hard to imagine them together as a band and what kind of music will they compose?

Honestly, I was kinda disappointed Gackt is the vocalist considering the fact that I used to be a big big fan of Gackt but ever since Seventh Night, gosh I had been really disappointed in his vocals ever since.

I can already imagine fangirls screaming over Gackt and Miyavi hotness. I fall under the category of older jrockers appreciaters though.

i watched some clips from their performance in California on youtube and they are pretty darn amazing. i kinda like Gackt on his own but i hope they come out w/ a friggin amazing album! ^^

are there US tour dates?

^ So far, there was just Anime Expo. I would guess that based on the sold-out nature of their show there, they might consider doing a small club tour. In the newest Shojo Beat, when asked about appearing in the states, Gackt said something along the lines of "please wait for me."

In any case, I'm sure there are fangirls having little heart-attacks just thinking about seeing them live at some point.
