Kuraki Mai will be releasing a new, three disc DVD set, Brilliant Cut ~Mai Kuraki Live & Document~, on August 22. Spanning a massive 280 minutes, the set will include live performances from her 2006 concert, Mai Kuraki Live Tour 2006 Daimond Wave, which was held in over thirty five venues. It’ll also include footage from Mai’s first concert, at age 18, up to her latest at, age 24, a documentary, behind-the-tour, special birthday footage and footage from Mai Kuraki COUNTDOWN LIVE 06-07 Love, Day Break Tomorrow. Many other things will be included in this special DVD set and will come housed in a digipack case.

Mai debuted in 1999 with the single Love, Day After Tomorrow, which was released in both the US and Japan. Using the name Mai-K (which has since become her nickname), she also released an album in the US, Secret of my heart (which was named after her third single) in 2002 with little, if any, success. She released three singles and an album last year but has been relatively quiet this year with only one single under her belt, Season of love, released earlier this year.

During a recent trip to Taiwan, Mai announced she will hold her first overseas concert there at the end of November and soon after, will have a brand new album and single. She announced the album first and then the single but until we get confirmation from her official website, nothing is certain. She had also recorded a new song, Born to be free, which will also be sung in Chinese and English, and will most likely appear on her album. A preview of the Chinese version can be heard here. We can expect something new by December or early January.
