how does ayu do it?
Okay I'm a proud Hikki fan! But man Ayumi is constantly releasing new material, yet Hikki releases new stuff every blue moon, and you know how AYU just came out with her new a ballads, well shes commin out with a new single in July! YET us fans are super anxcious to eat up what ever comes from hikki next, and its not like theres any news that we can look foward because nothing is annouced...
Do you like Hikki release style compared to Ayu's? ok i took this question from j-central...what ya think about this? people said the result of taking out new stuff was that fans getting sick of our ayumi .. and thats why she lost to utada this year in (GD)... |

It's been noticable to me that Ayu has cut back this year. She's not releasing as much as previous years.
As for Hikki vs Ayu's releasing styles, I prefer Ayu's because she gives new material faster, but the con to that is that she must work extremely hard. There are 4 months between A BALLADS and July (new single). I don't think that's unreasonable or too fast at all. It's actually pretty slow or Ayu. Her style works for her, and she's selling pretty well. |

I think it's just a natural thing. Artists just drift in and out of popularity. Just like christina aguilera and britney spears- britney was popluar, then christina became even more popular, and then britney returned to the spotlight, and now christina is back

I think Ayu is maturing by releasing singles at a slower pace. Her songs will be much more emotional I think if she takes her time on releasing it. I can be patient for her new single
![]() As for Hikki.. I don't really listen to her music and can't relate to it as much I can relate to Ayu's music.

maybe, before she was releasing and releasing singles to get noticed. you know, for popularity and all. but now that she's up there (big star and all), she doesn't need to depend on releasing so many singles in order to keep rising as a star. now she can rely on all those fans she worked so har for, and focus even better on her future singles.

i guess i like the style of releasing albums and singles slower. even though i love Ayu i really dont like the frantic pace that she released albums and singles.
i like hikki too but Ayu is my favorite. |

I think that she peaked in the spotlight when she was releasing all those singles... people were expecting her to release a CD every month or so and she did, and now that a CD seems to come out about once every 3 or 4 months, to me, I think that her presence has declined quite a bit... gone are the days when you could pick up a new set of tunes every month, or when you could get a single with as many songs as some albums come with, and without that vibe she had, she's gotta do something else then to recover her "share".
y2687 kinda hinted at this, yet I don't think that fans alone are gonna help. There's been a bunch of new artists since Ayu's premiere, and all are slowly taking over Ayu's share, and to rely on her fans to boost sales or whatnot won't cut it. Places like Burger King didn't get to where it was just by selling burgers. You've gotta offer stuff that few places have and broaden your horizons to other things. Just thinking that "hey... I'll release a remix of an already remixed album" won't do, and sure.... not all artists need a CD every monthm but that's what made Ayu "Ayu".... without that, she won't have nearly the impact she once had... |

somehow i'm not a fan of hikki...i like her first album...but datz about it...
but the average "life of popularity" for a jpop idol is about 3 - 5 years and ayu has already reached that...who knowz how much longer is she gonna be the top, itz just the norm that things go up and come down....itz just life but no matter wat, i'll still support ayu ![]() ![]() ![]()

Both artists work in interesting strategies. Hikki really releases stuff in every blue moon ahhah it's been ages since she released COLORS and we haven't even heard what will be her next release. By doing that Hikki doesn't overexpose herself too much though. Also it makes people appreciate more the fewer stuff she released compared to Ayu's war arsenal of releases. Hikki's songs doesn't really appeal very much at first to me. I didn't like more than half of the songs in her Deep River album. By listening to her stuff more and more I start to get into it and enjoy them very much. I like almost all the songs from Deep river now. It also happens to me that it's more difficult to get tired of a Hikki's song because they're often quite calm and do not abuse the drum and guitar sounds and her voice always sound beautiful and well worked. Ayu by the other way releases lot of stuff and her songs are fantastic even when you're listening to them for the first time. There's so much stuff released from her that is quite difficult to appreciate everything properly so you'll most likely have to choose some favorites even though almost everything she does is good. She also overexpose herself too much, which is positive and negative. She is able to get many fans by that but she also gets tons of bashers and stuff. Also ayu made her fans addicted in quick releases and REMIXES. We hardly get to enjoy a new album from her and we already want a new single, and we don't even get to enjoy her original stuff expecting for new remixes and all LOL A fan of Ayu who loves to collect her stuff also suffers a lot because that person has to spend a lot of money on her LOL

I hope that this isn't or my last comparison article between ayumi and hikki.
As time goes by, Hikki and Ayumi are going apart further and further. The former are releasing much slower and without flashy remixes and our ayu here often shoots out singles and is now going to beat Matsuda Seiko's record on Oricons. How did she do it? Well nice tunes and cool, deep thinking lyrics packs the punch. |
