Story behind the CAPS and lowercase song titles?

Do japanese just not care about how the song titles are in english? Seems they don't really care if the song has caps at the beginning and sometimes the whole song title is in caps. examples from ayu songs...

SURREAL
UNITE!
SEASONS
ANGEL'S SONG
HEAVEN
TO BE

and

walking proud
girlish
rainy day
fairyland
everywhere nowhere
alterna

Many other J-pop artists do this too....why is it?

Erm, I only know the story about TO BE.... initially Ayu wrote the title as NOT TO BE, but our old frnd Max Matsuura straight away cut off the "NOT", so there ya go.

I think it's interesting. If I were a singer, even here in America, I'd totally do the same thing. The title of a song is as much about aesthetics as the rest of the song is.

I think it looks neat. Adds some spice and variety and fun to looking at the tracklist (except in certain cases. Mik'as TRUE, for example, where I think all but one of the titles are in ALL CAPS), although I supposed it'd be a pain for people to keep worrying and wondering about the correct way to type it.

Yes, it's about giving a message, aesthetics, also how the word is suppose to come through. The titles should in connection to the lyrics.

Do you know of any other titles like that? That's really interesting.

I think it's just trendy to play with caps. Japanese people don't have capital letters so they might feel more intitled to play with them. I do agree that it adds a lot more to a song. I believe hitomi does the same thing. In fact Hamasaki's titles always remind me of hitomi's.

I remember... Ayu said that the titles in caps are songs more importants than songs in lowercase. Maybe is true... maybe only look cool.

It's because she's angry with the world and has to flame through her song titles.

Maybe she wants to put emphasis on the capital titles/words in title.

I remember this question...I remember someone, I don't know, Deli?, who posted the rules for making title names, how, it has to be, that the title has to have all caps, all lower case, or just the first letter capitalized, only one word all and the others lowercase...

that was a long time ago...i don't remember.

I suppose, since she's japanese, she might not always know how to write certain letters in lower caps, so if she has a problem like that, she just puts the whole title, or at least a whole word, in capital letters, which are way easier
