Ayu and Pokemon - Plausible???

With the latest Pokemon Movie, Giratina and the Sky Bouquet, I was wondering if it would be a good marketing strategy for Ayu to sing a theme song for the next Pokemon movie.

For the previous Pokemon Movie, Dialgia VS Palkia VS Darkrai, the theme song was done by Sarah Brightman, with the song called I Will Be With You (Where The Lost Ones Go).

Giratina and the Sky Bouquet's theme song will be called ONE by Crystal Kay. I never knew who Crystal Kay until the Pokemon Movie. ONE sounds so nice in the trailers that I want to know more about Crystal Kay but I think I only will once I have watched the movie (since the whole song is played during the end roll).

Now, what I'm saying is that the theme songs for the movies are usually done by very talented and recognized singers, so why not for Ayu?

Some positive impacts I've thought of if Ayu does a theme song for a Pokemon Movie:
1) Pokemon is EXTREMELY popular in Japan; large market base to advertise Ayu
2) The theme song will be played in all trailers of the movie; the whole song is also played in the end roll; people will actually know how good the song would be.
3) She could release it as a limited edition single for the movie; just to squeeze more money.
4) When the DVD of the movie is made, and shipped to USA, it'll most likely contain the original soundtrack of the movie; international move for Ayu.

Also, please note that a Pokemon Movie theme song DOES NOT mean that Ayu needs to sing something like HONEY. I Will Be With You and ONE are both ballads.

So, I think it'd be an extremely good marketing strategy if Ayu were to do a theme song for the next Pokemon Movie... I mean just imagine! The sales of the movies are extremely well and all the kids will be with their parents... it might make more fans for Ayu and in a way I'm sure her sales would go up.

So, discuss about this issue if you have any opinions, whether good or bad!

hm.... nah...
lol
1) ayu is also EXTREMELY popular in Japan, and the market she appeals to is not generally little kids and their mothers.
2) If it's an ayu song, people are going to hear it regardless, they don't need a pokemon movie to hear how "good" it is.
3) Limiteds could be released either way. Doesn't guarantee their sale though.
4) Unnecessary international move. The USA is not a market she is aiming for at all. All that that could possibly get her would be to be known as 'that pokemon girl' along with 'that inuyasha girl'. awesome?

Sorry but ayu is obviously already oodles and oodles more recognized in japan than CK or brightman.

Since ayu singles rarely have theme song tie-in's anymore anyways, what she could actually use is a strong drama tie-in that would help maintain chart longevity, (like the tie-ins that kept Flavor of Life and HEART STATION afloat for so long). A pokemon tie-in would probably not do much in her favor, and it's definitely not her style. It's almost like you don't know ayu at all. (ie. she could do much better than that).

1. Pokemon is popular with people outside of Ayu's usual audience.
2. We're already exposed to her songs from either a. Commercials, or b. theme songs of ACTUAL movies.
3. I don't see anything wrong here, but it doesn't have to be Pokemon for her to do that.
4. lol 4kids would TOTALLY axe her out. Remember, they try to convince America Japan doesn't exist.

I don't think Ayu needs any marketing. She's just as famous as Pokemon over there from what I understand. Plus, I think Pokemon would be a little... immature for her. She deserves something more like "Titanic" to sing the theme too (i.e. a big blockbuster movie).

If she had a theme song for a TV drama, it would be more successful than a theme song for a Pokemon movie.

Err...no. lol Crystal Kay is popular in Japan. Ayu is also pretty popular, she doesn't need to sing the theme for a Pokemon movie to "become more popular".

Also, they haven't released Pokemon movie soundtracks over here in the States since the third movie. (You can buy imported soundtracks via the store shipping it to you, or you buying it online.) Plus, they always re-do themes for the US-releases (with the exception of the sixth movie, where they half re-did it), so there's a good chance her version may not even be heard over here.

Plus, Pokemon movie themes never seem to sell well in Japan anymore. It's other anime themes, like BLEACH, that seem to sell more.

I think ayu do need a new and fresh way to be marketed for a younger audience, esp teens and late teens. I don't know if Pokemon is the way to go though.

....erm....weird question, but i don't think ayu's style would go along with pokemon songs, ayu is popular enough that she don't have to do kiddy things

Okay, I do agree with many of you on that Ayu IS popular in Japan and that the international market isn't what she's targeting (yet).

BUT...

Like what one of the users here said, she perhaps needs an alternate marketing source. I mean, it's always commercials or theme songs from DRAMAS (which isn't that common in the recent years)... she could always surprise us.

Besides, as I mentioned, theme song from Pokemon Movie =/= something like HONEY. No one said that Pokemon songs are kiddy and what have you. I mean gosh, check the lyrics for Sarah Brightman's songs, do you think they are anywhere near kiddy?

And I don't really think ONE is going to be a 'kiddy' song either. I mean, most theme songs from Pokemon Movies ARE BALLADS with actual mature and deep lyrics.

Pokemon is not kiddy either; like that's a super bad generalization.

And I do not not know Ayu at all or anything; I understand that she's probably one of the MOST popular people around Japan now BUT I'm suggesting an alternate marketing strategy for her that COULD boost her sales.

^The SONGS may not be childish, but Pokemon's target audience IS children. While children can enjoy Ayu's songs, I'm pretty sure off her lyrics alone that that ISN'T her target audience.

EDIT: And this is coming from a Pokemon fan ^^;;

Okay, I get what you mean, I was feeling a little... defensive about Pokemon being kiddy.

Well, yes, the kids might not really care about the lyrics anyway but still... I really think that Pokemon is a huge tie-in. I mean... you get two of Japan's most popular media together... I think it'll be a cool combo.

I also think that it'll be a win-win situation for them. I mean, somewhat the sales and popularity of both Pokemon and Ayu will help each other, I guess.

I'd rather see a no name just starting off singer get a Pokemon tie in and have success from it than Ayu, who already has megas success, get one to be honest ^^;;

I see what you mean though, it'd help Pokemon and Ayu out, but I don't think it's too plausible that she'd get or even want one, it's not her style if you think about it.

Heh, you do have a point. It'd be better if some unknown singer gets breakthrough success because of a Pokemon tie-in... but still it'd be cool if Ayu EVER does something like that.

When I saw this I automatically thought:

Ayupan
lvl 100
Stats
cuteness: 109
Speed: 0
Attack: 0

and that stuff. XD

But yeah it might be cool for Ayu to do a tie in with pokemon. But then again I really don't have an opinion on this. O.o

Well, Namie also did toi et moi. Ayu doesn't, well, need the promotion with a pokémon movie, but it wouldn't hurt really I mean, it's just an anime tie-in, she did that in the peak of her career with Dearest for Inu Yasha.
