iTunes ratings?

So iTunes is pretty big right?

Well, I just downloaded it and went to look at the ratings of Ayu stuff. But A COMPLETE only has 3 stars! Compared to 4 for even GUILTY and Secret. This is so strange? The album sold a lot too.

But my question is, Secret has 4 stars and "v a" instead of 5th star. Does this mean it has 5 stars or what? Actually I just realized Startin' has 3 stars and v a too. :/ Whats it mean?

OK, second question, when I got to "All ayu songs" the popularity order is BLUE BIRD > Mirrorcle World > STEP you > No way to say. But when I search for Ayumi Hamasaki, I get a list at the bottom of songs with popularity order BLUE BIRD > HEAVEN > JEWEL > Together When > etc. Wtf? This second list is really weird. Bold & Delicious and talkin' 2 myself are near the top of the list, above much more famous songs like Moments, etc.? *confused* ALSO pretty much ALL songs except the first 30 have a popularity of 0-3 stripes. o_O

For B&D, it could be popular amongst Japan people and American people who haven't been exposed to Oriental music. Shes used the song frequently in her past tour setlists and the audience seem to enjoy it. New Yorkers that she passed by on the streets in her B&D PV seemed to enjoy the song as well.

As for A COMPLETE, its a compilation album with barely anything different. A BEST had 4 vocal mixes/re-records. A BEST II had a re-record of Memorial Address (well sorta, a take 2) and a new song Part of me. A COMPLETE just had a 10th anniversary re-record of Who... People probably expected more, I mean for some reason a lot of people here on the forums seem disappointed with their A COMPLETE purchase :rollseyes

Itunes is also a public P2P program, you can consider the possibility that Ayu-haters with nothing better to do in their life could just browse the songs to give it 1 star and lower the rating. They coulda done that to mess with everything, including A COMPLETE.

This is pretty much the answer. Look at her ratings on amazon.co.jp also, They have lower stars cos of haters rating 1

@baggins: Memorial address on A BEST II was the exact same a on Memorial Addres..? =p

And the Japanese people actually didn't like B&D..

The haters point is good, tho.

Yea it sounded exactly the same on A BEST II. I read somewhere it was a take2, I guess they were wrong.

There is the file name and the song tag. If the artist name is "Ayumi Hamasaki" but the artist tag says "Ayu", mp3 programs sometimes register that as separate artists. They are glitchy like that.

But like.. If you go to Japanese iTunes, and you search for Ayumi Hamasaki at the top-right corner (not Ayu) you get a list at the bottom of songs. (Edit: Wait, In The Corner isn't even on this list lol.)

But if you actually go to Ayumi's profile page by clicking on her name, and then to See All Songs, the list is ENTIRELY different. It's so strange! >_<

I dunno which list I should look at to find out what Ayu has been looking at when composing CDL0809 set list. =/ frustrating

Weird tho. In The Corner is ALL THE WAYYY at the bottom. Why does she think people want it sung? non-big songs that are much higher are teddy bear, Will, Trust, monochrome, SCAR and It was. WOW It was is high.)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think iTunes is used as widely as all those ringtone services for cellphones, so iTunes is probably used by a certain demographic.. most likely music lovers that have iPod's. (Don't most people in Japan use their phone primarily to purchase music?) I see B&D and t2m as two songs that would appeal more to people that aren't fans of Ayumi and would therefore purchase the song on iTunes, rather than buy the whole single. I feel like B&D and t2m pushed more of the casual listeners away from buying the singles, but I think the iTunes ranking show that maybe the two songs are well-liked by people not interested in typical Ayu pop.

BTW, I think she's probably using the 'Top Songs' list.

Yea, but that list as In The Corner at the bottom..and she said it was popular. So.. If she goes by that list, I will be very very very happy as she SHOULD do Will and monochrome. XD

"In The Corner" was specifically mentioned (it would seem repeatedly) by TeamAyu members who sent Ayu messages directly, that's how she knows her fans want it sung.

I don't think Ayu used iTunes to see songs' popularities.. but rather to simply listen to them. I wonder if she has an a avex credit card hooked up to her iTunes so she can her own songs..
