DVD Regions

i've got several of Ayu's DVDss consisting of both Region 2 & 3 then when i wanna play those disc on my comp (reason is because sometimes my family watches TV & i only get to play the DVDs on my laptop)..i get this pop-up which says my system is set to DVD region 1 & i need to change to region 2 or 3 in order to play my disc..

one problem is that im only allowed to change the region a limited amount of times (4 from what i see) then when it reaches zero, i would not be able to change the region even if i reinstall windows or move the DVD drive to a different computer (im using a laptop btw)...and i don't want that to happen.......

i've done some searches & chanced upon this website which recommends the use of DVD43(freeware) or AnyDVD or DVD Region-Free to make my region locked DVD drive and the software player region free.

im not too sure about installing these softwares onto my laptop after reading some of the DVD43's comments as im really bad when it comes to computers & i fear it may crash my whole system i won't be able to get my things done & also risk losing all my ayu data T____T

does anybody have any recommendations/sugggestions???

really much appreciated you guys' help!!!

^ It's weird because Singapore computers should be set to Region 3 by default. But oh well. I'll recommend VLC player. It's awesome and plays any region without having you to change the default region of your drive.

^ Eh? That's weird. I'm using the older version of the player though. Maybe the newer versions doesn't work? Because I remember Karen trying the new versions but it doesn't work too.

i think i know why your computer default is under region code 1.

see the computer sets the region code by the 1st DVD you play with it.
i think the 1st disc you played on it should be a code 1, there are some code 1 disc that can be bought locally.
coz my VAIO laptop default code is 2, as the first disc i played on it is the japan version of koda kumi Fever live hall concert dvd. then my desktop is code 3, as the first disc my sis played on it was a CardCaptor Sakura DVD, code 3.
