International Ayu Day..?!

I was browsing a French Ayu Fansite a while ago and in one of their news post, they celebrated July 1st as "International Ayu Day"....

so uh... is that really a day celebrating Ayu by her fans or am I still a noob..? can anyone clarify that to me please?
