[2009] When Ayu's lyrics mean nothing at all...

There's this thread on here that talks about what you like about ayu. No offence to the thread, but it reallly pissed me off.

Over and over AND over I saw the same thing. "I like her lyrics". "her lyrics are amazing". "I think her lyrics are so true".

Is that the only reason anyone joined this site? I would really like to hear from everyone what they like about ayu asides from her lyrics.

Assume you don't know japanese, OR/AND for some reason you can't find translated lyrics of any of her songs. Pretend you didn't know what any of them meant...Why do you like ayu/what do you really like about ayu besides her lyrics?

for me it would have to be her songs and her pvs. (the very obvious/general answer). Yes her lyrics are like poetic Jdrama's waiting to happen, but I love the variety she offers us in the pletherea of different composition styles. from startin', to forgiveness, to Game. and her pvs. some of them are boring, but some are just simply genius or really cool like Real me, inspire, or the really weird Ladies night.

when I don't understand the lyrics I just like the music and ayus voice!
really doesn't matter if she sang about sniffing glue or computer viruses bcos I don't understand 'em if I don't read a translation.

yeah I mostly just love the music.

Probably the arrangement in the songs. I like the catchiness of the melodies used and stuff like that.

I love Ayu's music, and just the energy she give off on stage. I think I truly fell in love with watching Memorial address @ AT03-04, I had watched the translated version, but it was the emotion and the fact that I was at the time that I really wanted to just cry

I also adore her PVs, they're some of the best that I've seen~

It's obviously the music/arrangements, but to me, the most important thing is how ayu puts so much emotion into her voice.

U don't really need to read a translation to know the lyrics are heartbreaking, cause the way she sings it says it all.

At beginning (I was 12 years old) I didn't understand much of the songs, but since i listened to Depend on you I soon loved her music.
just then i discovered her lyrics, her story and her style.
before there was just her music..and the feelings she gave to me were more important than any lyric.

If there were no translations around then I'd probably like the catchiness of her music. I'd also like her for her music videos too.

i agree

of course #1 is her music. without thinking about the lyrics it's still earcandy.

2. her personality, her sense of humor, how much she cares for her fans, how she has evolved into a much stronger person. she's very real and i can relate to her on a personal level.

3. her fashion, she usually never walks out without looking put together and just really nice. she cares about her looks and puts effort into looking good.
she also can pull off a lot of different looks.

4. she's so CUTE. okay seriously, she's adorable.

5. she keeps me INTERESTED. i never know quite what to expect from her. she likes to change things up with her music a lot. she's an awesome entertainer - i love so many of her tours and CDL's, PV's, lives, etc.

i could go on.. but i'm too lazy.

I forgot to mention her PV's. Gawd, i love them. And i love trying to interpret them lol.

Those r pretty much things that make u love her when u just tried her out.

But once u've done a research about her life, her lyrics, watched her interviews and stuff, it's impossible not to fall in love with her.

In my case, it's not about ayu's music anymore. It's about ayu's persona. I find pretty much every little aspect of her life interesting lol

Au always puts an amazing (and IMO unreached) amount of emotion in the songs shes singing, especially live, they touch you without you knowing what she sings about
Shes got a great variety of really different songs, giant concerts and amazing pvs.

I'd never really listened to her music and didn't know anything about her, but I ended up watching her light & shadow interview one day, and was really inspired by her whole life, determination, and heart of gold <3

her music is goo ad i love some of her pvs
sometimes ayu is very humble and sometimes she can be a diva
(i like when shes humble and from what ive seen her personality is good)

but her lyrics make up the most part important of her being an artist
she likes to express herself so i wouldnt say that her lyrics are meaningless

To be honest, I don't even look up translations that much. It is nice to know that her lyrics are meaningful and they come from her heart though. I like Ayu because her songs are catchy and powerful, her PV's are absolutely amazing, and she's got an awesome sense of style.
